1. It is vulgar
I heard about what this guy this did. It is vulgar and unsportsmanlike. The player should be fined.
As for Fox, I have no idea of what they said and don't care. My opinions are my opinions, not theirs.

5. Pretending to moon people?
Just pretending is vulgar?

Dear heavens, what would happen if he actually mooned someone? Would Western Civilization collapse?

10. Sure pretending to moon is vulgar
Actually mooning would have been even worse. No, it would not have resulted in the fall of civilization. However, it would contribute to the increasing vulgarity, coarseness, and rudeness in our society.
If the only standard you have is whether Western Civilization would collapse as a result of it, then you have an exceedingly low standard by which you live your life.

14. It's tacky, but relatively tame.
For god's sakes, it's pro football. Since when does it have anything to do with grace, manners or sportsmanship? Last I checked it was all about ego, greed, and a bunch of guys in tight trousers crashing into each other.

The whole crowd of people who pay through the nose to eat up the EXACT SAME spectacle night after night after night DESERVE to be mooned.

26. It used to not be that way.
Even college football has become all about the money. They name the bowl games after corporations now.

Football is a great game and used to be played by men that had a sense of honor attached to how they conducted themselves, at least on the field. Now it's getting more and more like WWF all the time.

4. It was just really low-class.
I'd hate for someone on the Chargers to do that because it would embarass me and the community I live in.

11. Unfair to low-class people
It was classless.

Fox is definitely screeching waaaay too loud about it though. Wouldn't be surprised if they got a memo from the legal department.

Last night I saw a doc on Walter Payton. Times sure have changed.

15. Why? Pro teams have nothing to do with the communities they're based in.
I've always thought there should be a rule that the players on these teams actually BE FROM the communities they are "playing for". Then the town that won the super bowl could actually brag about it's hometown boys doing good and it would mean something. Right now it's strictly about money. Who freaking cares?

19. Except in Green Bay
where the team is owned by stockholders who don't receive dividends and are prevented from owning more than 200,000 shares, meaning that one stockholder can't take over the organization.

If there was a geographic rule for players, the big population states--CA, FL and NY would always have the best teams.

6. It's just the latest diversion from harsh reality
We've had our criminal sideshow - Scott Peterson and the murdered, attractive white spouse phenomenon. Now it's time for a sports "scandal" or Janet's boob redux.

12. No big deal
Listening to Tony Dungy on the radio this morning. I was expecting Tony to tear into Moss. Instead Tony (who coach some time in Tampa and has been to Green bay as a visitor a lot) said it is common for Packer fans to moon the opposing teams bus after a Packer home win. Since the Vikings had done a lot of losing in Green Bay during the Packer years, Moss has seen his share of Packer butts. So is Moss's fake moon on TV worse than the countless real moons seen by Randy all these years... not in Dungy's book. I agree.

28. The reason behind the "fake" mooning
is because Wisc. fans moon the losing team, no pretend...the real big full moons.

(Hubby was flipping channels, so I don't know which channel was on. I just verified with him who it was that said it)

The coach said that when his team has lost, as their bus is leaving, the Green Bay fans line the fence and moon the bus. He said he'd seen it 7 times and that he knew that Moss had seen it as well.

Moss was just giving back to the fans what they have dished out in the past.

So I guess the final equation is Moss = generic idiot drunken fan. Nice to see that Moss was able to sink to the occassion.
