Poll question: In light of 9/11, would you support an invasion of Saudi Arabia?
My wife and I have CNN Presents on where they are talking about what was going on 9/11/01. They just had an announcement on who was sponsoring the show and my wife said, "what, aren't the people of Suadi Arabia sponsoring it?"

I said, "you would think they would since they sponsored the original events."

So with all the threads yesterday about supporting this or that invasion, would you support an invasion of the nation most responsible for 9/11? Would you support going after Saudi Arabia?

1. Absolutely not,
invasions are not proper responses to anything I can think of right now. They are absolutely last resorts. Diplomacy, police work, and making friends are the first things to do.

2. Saudi Arabia sponsored 9/11
They are far more responsible for 9/11/ than Afghanistan and the Taliban were.

Did you not support the invasion of Afghanistan?

3. don't invade any country, for god's sake!
No country was behind 9/11 - it was a group of people with an ideology, with no country backing them. Invading a particular country - ANY country - will do nothing. The key is to find out why these people believe what they do...not blindly bombing one country after another.

how moronic!

5. The Royal family of Saudi Arabia sponsored the terrorists
They had much more to do with it than the Taliban.

8. then the saudi family is playing both cards
Smiling and shaking Bush's hand, AND paying people to destroy the U.S.

You're right, if we're to invade ANY country it should be SA. However, wouldn't it be more effective/diplomatic/HONEST to publicly question the Saudis on this evidence and hear their position? Then we can decide if they're friends of ours.

14. Absolutely
so,so, so right that it's amazing how many others can't get it. But laura888, how do we get others to understand? It's so frustrating to even hear Democrats saying such things. What can we do?

6. Absolutely not!
Look, Saudi Arabia is already in the midst of a civil war, although a minor one. If we were to invade Saudi Arabia, wouldn't that just escalate the killing and the anger?

Just like Israel we would be trapped in a continuous spiral of retribution and death.

10. No.

There is a precedent for punishing the person or group that commit a crime.
Locally, the police will gather evidence, a suspect, create a case with which to convict the party, and then the courts deal with it, legally and one would like to think justly.
On an international scale, it is much the same. That is what the World Court is for.
Nicaragua didn't bomb California when the US was attacking. They went to the world court.

As Noam Chomsky pointed out, after the Oklahoma City bombing took place, and the criminals were found, there was no order to bomb Montana or Idaho.
There is a legal way to deal with a crime. But, I suppose if a country veto's a resolution calling it to adhere to international law, we can't really expect the proper measures to be taken.

11. No
Don't invade anybody.

That goes double for the clowns currently occupying the White House. They have botched the invasions of two countries at last count.

15. I voted "other" because I think the information's just starting to come in
And it doesn't look good for Saudi Arabia. But it doesn't look good for our leaders, either.

I'm starting to think that our current "leaders" are working for Saudi Arabia. And have been for years.

I think that is the picture that is emerging here. From the murk, if you will.

Bend your heads around THAT one! :)

16. At this point I would support invasion of the White House
and the Congress people that are screwing this country up. Impeach them and put them in jail. Get someone with some brains and diplomatic talent. Then see where to go.
