Air Force 2025
Is it madness, or just another chapter in the lives of scared little boys and their magnificently destructive toys.... looks like continual war for continual peace is going to be the order of the day. I wonder if anyone can figure out why that is... what is the driver that pushes man to such planning and actions. What are we striving to attain, achieve, accomplish...... and they say the loonies are locked safely away in institutions.... not hardly.

http://www.au.af.mil/au/2025/
The 2025 team used the creative but disciplined alternate futures procedure to describe various plausible future worlds, each separate and distinct, and each offering different security and planning challenges. In the first world, the U.S.'s military might is constrained by many world players with other forms of power. A second world depicts the extreme impacts of a future dominated by multinational corporate giants. A third world is a scary future in which information and biogenetic technology is dispersed, giving individuals and small groups untold power. In a fourth world, the U.S. loses its status as a superpower to an Asian colossus. A fifth future envisions a world marked by fundamental changes in the social structure, environment and the international security system, making it difficult for the United States to determine how best to exert its power and influence. The final world depicts how a major conflict in 2015 could shape events in 2025.

1. "Attack microbots"? Oh, great.
So the battles of the future won't just litter the place with depleted uranium, cluster bomblets and land mines, there'll also be murderous robots running around?

6. At least they will be small murderous robots... I mean, doesn't that
help the idea of it be a little more palatable for you?? Some repug owned corp somewhere is already working on this, I guarantee it.

Brief Description

"Attack microbots" describes a class of highly miniaturized (one millimeter scale) electromechanical systems capable of being deployed en masse and performing individual or collective target attack. Various deployment approaches are possible, including dispersal as an aerosol, transportation by a larger platform, and full flying/crawling autonomy. Attack is accomplished by a variety of robotic effectors, electromagnetic measures, or energetic materials. Some "sensor microbot" capabilities are required for target acquisition and analysis.

Capabilities

* "Swarm" of 1mm scale flight-capable MEM platforms provide unobtrusive, pervasive intervention into adversary environments and systems
* Extremely small size provides high-penetration capabilities and natural stealth

8. I think it would be wiser to design and build the defense microbots first
don't you?

10. Nope... we need to be on the offensive against the evildoers.... before
they develop some terrorizing robots of their own... gotta get the evildoers... get 'em, get 'em.... smoke them out of their caves... inhabit their land, get a puppet govt installed, pump that oil... nevermind the extreme unemployment... as in Saudi Arabia... as long as a few at the top do our bidding, all is well that ends well.

5. Top systems? How about clean abundant power?
Is an uninhabited combat air vehicle really more important?

Let me see... if I could only have one safety system in my car, would I rather have breaks or an airbag? Haven't we heard that the best way to survive an accident is not to get into one in the first place? Wouldn't the same be true about a war: the best war victory comes in not having to fight the war in the first place?

Maybe if I was as wise as Bush, I'd understand.
Thank God I'm not.

7. Alexander the great had it together according to these morons....
Hey, if this sort of mindset was good enough for empires in the past, it will be good enough for empire of today. Problem is.... empires of the past didn't have to contend with the biological, chemical, and nuclear capabilities of their conquests. They didn't have to worry about "global opinion". They didn't have to consider an internet continually pumping out the truth in spite of their efforts to spin it.

Executive Summary

The affirming characteristic of Alexander the Great's genius as a general and leader was "the startling rapidity with which he always acted. . . . Time was his constant ally; he capitalized every moment, never pondered on it, and thereby achieved his end before others had settled on their means."

13. Check this clip... and see if you don't get the impression that
the "terrorists" are going to have stealth bombers, F22's, F-16's, nuclear subs, be spending 400 to 500 billion per year on "defense", will have all sorts of evildoing military hardware... "or" are you seeing that the goal is to keep a trump card on the other "democratic" nations of the world...

This is very telling, very telling about just what these guys are thinking, what they see coming... doesn't sound like the drive to promote democracy to me, but it does sound like the drive to maintain total global military supremacy. These are some sick puppies. Tell me again, just who the agressors are.

>>In its most basic form, commanders have always performed the functions of observe, orient, decide, and act (OODA Loop) to prosecute military operations.1 As with Alexander the Great, history shows the military commander who best analyzes, decides, and controls the speed of the engagement prevails in nearly every conflict. To master the OODA Loop, military leaders have pushed technology to obtain more information.2 Ironically, this situation now leads to the requirement to solve two fundamental challenges if the United States expects to maintain air and space dominance in 2025.<<

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

Albert Einstein, but then, what did he know....

9. a future dominated by multinational corporate giants
they're a little bit late in planning for this one.

besides that, wouldn't our military be on their side?
