WASHINGTON - President Bush on Tuesday chose federal appeals court judge Michael Chertoff to be his new Homeland Security chief, turning to a former federal prosecutor who helped craft the early war on terror strategy.

<snip>

Chertoff and his wife, Meryl, each donated $1,000 to Bush's first presidential campaign.

<more>

So now it only takes $2000 to get a cabinet position?

BTW - his "help" at crafting the early war on terror strategy included participation with the USA PATRIOT Act....oh super! Attorney General Tourturer and Homeland Security Director No Need for Civil Liberties or Freedoms.....what a scary bunch of guys about to be making serious decisions....

3. I am curious to know what, if any, qualifications Chertoff has...
It would be unfair to assume that a $2000 donation can get a cabinet position.

Think about - he'd have to create a million new cabinet positions!

LOL

7. Chertoff is a longtime, partisan operative for the GOP. That qualifies him
in a Bush administration that is ALL about politics and nothing at all about competence.

and passed it off as his own proposals, making him seem to be on top of the issue. The focking bastard thief. I hope Dems are aware of this.

Chertoff spends all those years protecting BushInc from being exposed as cronies with terror financiers and then STEALS the proposals from Kerry's years of work on the issue based on his investigations into IranContra and BCCI. Then the media paints Kerry as lesser qualified to deal with terror during the election.

What a focking racket these Republicans have going for them.
