smirk pays reporters to lie - can we pay reporters to tell the truth? |
|
would that start a bidding war?
(sorry, sometimes it is just too much)

You ought to write an LTTE expressing that same sentiment. It's a good point!

2. That reminds me of the Adlai Stevenson quote |
|
"If the Republicans stop telling lies about us, we'll stop telling the truth about them."
Or words to that effect

5. The publisher of the Wall Street Journal |
|
had a big "letter" in last Thursday's or Friday's paper that was talking about among other things - that they do honest reporting. But that their editorials reflect the perception of privileged people (because that is their readership).
She also implied but did not say outright that the paper would not say anything that would insult the position that business has it's own rules of morality.
It was also opposite two editorials that justified torture. Including "Too Nice for Our Own Good" By HEATHER MAC DONALD
To succeed in the war on terror, interrogators must be allowed to use carefully controlled stress techniques against unlawful combatants. Stress works, say interrogators. The techniques that the military has used to date come nowhere near torture; the advocates can only be posturing in calling them such. These self-professed guardians of humanitarianism need to come back to earth. Our terrorist enemies have declared themselves enemies of the civilized order. In fighting them, we must hold ourselves to our own high moral standards -- without succumbing to the utopian illusion that we can prevail while immaculately observing every precept of the Sermon on the Mount.

6. heather, dear - terrorist are not enemies of "civilized order" |
|
that's as silly as saying they hate us for our freedoms.
Heather, go and read what Osama recently had to say on the subject.

******** "Before I begin, I say to you that security is an indispensable pillar of human life and that free men do not forfeit their security, contrary to Bush's claim that we hate freedom.
If so, then let him explain to us why we don't strike for example - Sweden? And we know that freedom-haters don't possess defiant spirits like those of the 19 - may Allah have mercy on them.
No, we fight because we are free men who don't sleep under oppression. We want to restore freedom to our nation, just as you lay waste to our nation. So shall we lay waste to yours.
No one except a dumb thief plays with the security of others and then makes himself believe he will be secure. Whereas thinking people, when disaster strikes, make it their priority to look for its causes, in order to prevent it happening again.
But I am amazed at you. Even though we are in the fourth year after the events of September 11th, Bush is still engaged in distortion, deception and hiding from you the real causes. And thus, the reasons are still there for a repeat of what occurred." ********
I hate, honestly it makes me upset, that I can agree with a known terrorist at times more than the President. It's a sad day when I have to admit that, and I really, really, wish I didn't.
