Cuba Strikes Oil
OUSTON, Jan. 10 - On Dec. 25, President Fidel Castro said he had some information to lift the spirits of Cuba's 11 million people: two Canadian energy companies, Pebercan and Sherritt International, had discovered oil in the Gulf of Mexico in an area under Cuba's control.

8. The American fascist party (republican) will have to invade...
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 05:25 PM by Zinfandel
Cuba, because with all that oil revenue, "Cuba will be able to spread communism everywhere", oh my!!!

This must piss off the right-wing embargo crazed republicans to no end.

They have to find a way to steal Cuba's oil...shit, and that only makes the people's oil of Venezuela position even stronger.

I love it, a Capitalist Canadian country found the oil...watch these Texas oil fucks dispute who owns the rights to the area (or outright steal it, who gonna stop them, certainly not Bush, he'd love to invade Cuba).

14. Now, now...
you know if shrub decides to invade Cuba, it will be to
force democracy on the Cuban people whether they want it
or not. And, of course; those insurgent types who choose
to take a stand against our well-meaning,but undeclared
war, will do so only because....

"They hate us for our freedom."

22. Even more interesting is the news that China supposedly just 'discovered'
a site with a possible 20 billion barrels worth in their neck of the woods. The DU Peak Oil group has more news about it posted. The foreign policy issues this discovery brings up are mind-boggling. Check it out.

Can His Fraudulency attack Cuba and China at the same time do you think. He's just stupid and oil-thirsty enough to try. Buckle your seat belts.

Now the entire island can be a prison camp, instead of just Guantanimo.

The new war in Cuba will keep everyone's eye off the mess in Iraq.

26. US-supported plot against Chavez and Venezuelan oil didn't work
Don't forget that Bush hasn't had much luck with subversion of Venezuela, which has enough oil to make any modern meglomaniac drool with envy. Bay of Pigs didn't work out very well.

There's only so many places you can invade and occupy at once. The quagmire in Iraq is at least some small insurance against any near-future invasion of Cuba. Bush can't pull out, even if the up-coming election farce can rig the Shia and Baath Party back in power.
I hear that they are using more hi-tech dynamite to punch thru military armor plating now, didn't the Iraqis just knock out an Abrams battle tank the other day? You can't hide behind the metal anymore. How you gonna occupy and control without lots of tanks and APCs?

If you want to invade Havana, you better write off Miami while you're at it.
