Who heard George Will say this morning:
(paraphrase, but very close), re Iraq: "Democracy there was never the point, that was always optional. The point was making Iraq safe for the world."

OK.

So 8,000 Iraqis died because the "world" was afraid of weapons that didn't exist?

Does "This Week" actually do online transcripts. That one's a keeper.

3. Yikes!
George Will should be banned from journalism... talk about unethical and sleazy... this is the guy who was an advisor to Reagan and then served on the panel that questionned the candidates during the debate. What an ass! A self-righteous ass.

8. There's that.
And then there is the way he constantly complains about blacks and absent fathers. This from the guy who left his life for a younger woman, and then when she gave birth to a mentally retarded child, left her and the kid.

I'll never forget one column of his I read. He was going on and on about how bad education is in high minority inner city schools. He wasn't offering any solutions, he was basically just saying how dumb black people were. And that we should cut funding to poor performing (ie black) schools. Then he quoted some statistic, and got a simple math problem wrong.

Fucking hypocritical, racist, stupid piece of shit.

7. Here you go, I have it on tape...
Will: “I think it is because that is sharing control over the political evolution of Iraq, which is not our fundamental goal in being there. Our fundamental goal in being there was to make Iraq safe for the world, not a model of democracy, that’s optional, and the U.N. can help there”.

I mean, seriously. Will is now saying we NEED the UN make Iraq a democratic SOCIETY?

Yikes - you actualy TAPE these Sunday morning gabfests - or was this a special occasion, as in you happen to be out or something?

I didn't know that about Will - the mentally ill child and all.

10. TW with GS comes on at 10am
here, preferred to get out and enjoy the day. Plus I can skip the parts of little interest to me, which usually means everything except the round table.

I like Zakaria, he's made Will look like the ass he is on more than one occasion. He wasn't on today, Paul Gigolo from WSJ took his place.

Not sure about the mentally ill child. Tried a quick google and couldn't find anything. Wouldn't surprise me though.

11. Ah yes
I remember Will sniffing with dismisivenes about "the indignation culture" in response to the war, and Zakaria snappily reminded him of his own membership in the indignation club when it came to Bill Clinton.

That was during the spring.

The idea that he can say with a straight face that the UN should be handling democracy in Iraq, after everything he has said about the UN since last fall, is staggering.

13. DIZZY FROM THE SPIN
I heard it and almost choked on my coffee

This is a good example of the circular spin being put out there

Brief recap of the bushit spin:

1 - prior to invasion of Iraq: we are invading to make the world safe
presumably because Saddam had WMDs that threatened the world

2 - shortly after completion of invasion and when we couldn't find Saddam: we invaded to liberate the Iraqi's

3 - after May 1 photo-op speech: we invaded to bring democracy to Iraq

now - see #1 - we invaded to make the world safe from Saddam and WMD's
