Dennis Miller
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 01:06 AM by Locut0s
Is a racist right wing bastard, ok so there's nothing new about that but I just came across some quotes by him that incensed me.

http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/bldennismiller.htm

Particularly the first couple "French bashing" jokes! Ok I know these are supposed to be part of his "routine" and not told in a mad rage but really where's the difference, if anything it makes it worse.

2. In some ways yes I think so.
There's a quote on some CNN article which deals with Miller's new show in which Al Franken, who was on SNL with Miller, says that he was not at all surprised at Millers right wing outburst. He said that he's always been fairly conservative in some views. Miller said himself however that 9-11 "changed him", so I think he's just gotten a lot worse.

To be fair as others have pointed out he's not right wing on social issues such as gay marriage and such. However jokes such as he tells here overrules that for me.

12. Do you think he lost some friends in the 9/11/01 attacks?
I am curious. Dennis Miller did one hell of a about face after the attacks.

15. What "changed" him...
...was the "Monday Night Football" debacle when he fell flat on his face as part of the broadcast team. His career was in the toilet and he had to think of something fast. So he reinvented himself as a right-wing bootlick. It worked for Limbaugh. It worked for Jim Quinn in Miller's native Pittsburgh.

16. I've always said he was a right winger
My hubby would watch him and laugh, then tell me why I was wrong when I said "That man is a right winger."

Dennis' words held a taint of something freeperish lurking just beneath the surface. I just think he was very careful not to let his true face show for long periods of time...BUT the mask always slipped.

His jokes regarding women (in the news, etc.) always stopped me short. It's like when you listen to someone speak but you know their words don't geehaw with what they are actually thinking...because of tone, inflection...even their eyes give it away.

40. We stopped watching him long before that
On his HBO specials is what I'm talking about. Besides, my husband doesn't watch football.(secretly cheers this)

I never watched him on SNL. Stopped watching SNL regularly long before Dennis came aboard.

Miller has just always struck me as right wing.

Now he's basically just a bush shill. I used to love his HBO show. I still think he's clever, it's just that when he's saying something so wrong and stupid, I can't laugh at it.

10. My problem with this is not so much that it demeans the French...
which is bad enough, but that it's not told as a joke so much as a piece of right wing propaganda. It caters to all those with the "Europe owes us for WWII, and are cowards not to come to our aid" mentality. It's told in a politically charged atmosphere not to get laughs but to get whistles and cat calls of approval from the conservative base that watch his show. This kind of joke is little different from the kind of racial slurs/jokes you might of heard during WWII told about the "Japs" etc.. It panders to those who would demonize the perceived enemy by reducing him to a handful of easy to recognize negative stereotypes.

13. The older and richer you get...
the chances increase of selling out and becoming a repuke. He once said on jay Leno, and I quote, "The reason I like Bush is simple; He gets out of bed in the moring, scratches his balls, and when his feet hit the floor he's thinking about killing some fucking terrorists." They bleeped the f-bomb of course. He's a sell out. I don't know if it's his employers or what, but he used to make sense to me. His criticisms of the right wingers when they attacked Clinton seemed sane. I don't know what the fuck happened, but I used to like him too. It wasn't until an episode of Bill Maher that he pissed me off. he agreed with Ann Coulter about something. What a fuck, give him a gun and send him to a desert.

17. Miller - Unfunny Then and Unfunny Now!
Dennis Miller is a whore plain and simple. His career was rocketing to the bottom before he started getting on his knees for the BushCo. Empire. The funniest thing about Miller is the fact that Jon Stewart is on top of the comedy world right now using a bit (Weekend Update/Fake News) that Miller thought he owned. I never thought he was that funny on Weekend Update and I think his humor now is a monument to bigotry, hate, intolerance and stupidity.

Miller must be part whale and have a blow hole somewhere on the back of his head. That would explain how he can have his face so far up Shrub's ass and still breathe.

Wouldn't it be great fun to switch the tame monkey Miller uses on his show with a wild monkey that has been trained to rip the testicles off of the first bearded asshole it sees? We could switch the animals right before Miller does a skit in which he is supposed to find the hiding monkey. I can picture it now. Miller would discover the monkey and look at the crowd with a big smirk and at that very moment our trained wild monkey would start playing "Flight of the Bumblebee" with his balls! Now that would be funny!

I watched him for a few minutes for the first time the other night, and the man was stunningly offensive and biased. I can't remember what stupid comment he made, but I was really offended at how slanted and unintelligent it was.

Let the right have that nitwit. I'll take George Clooney, Jon Stewart and Robin Williams, thank you.

and proceeded to bad mouth Michael Moore (who was to be a guest the following evening).....called him scum, made fun of his weight and generally cracked himself up over his pithy comments.

He's a cowardly piece of regurgitated fascist shite!

p.s. I can't stand Leno but I was hooking up a DVD and not interested in changing channels at the time.

30. Yes I saw that bit too...
He came on to sign Jay's "Tsunami bike" if I remember correctly. Then Jay let it drop that Michael Moore would be on next show, obviously knowing that Miller would make some kind of demeaning remark. If I remember correctly Jay jokingly asked him if he wanted to be on that show with more, Miller responded with something like "I'm not going to be on stage with that piece of scum", in his usually annoying laughing sarcastic delivery.

32. leno and miller are completely up each other's asses
miller had his "coming out" appearance as rightwinger on the tonight show.

and no, he wasn't always this way. just look at his hbo episodes fromm 2000. he called bush "insipid" and said that we needed a standardized test for presidential candidates. he also blasted mccain for turning around and endorsing him after what happened in s.c. some of his guests he had on to discuss politics that year were tim robbins, janeane garofalo, and george clooney.

then he lost the monday nigt footbal gig and needed work. i magine dennis was at home one night and saw coulter or someone on tv and got envious and deicided to offer a switch. his supposed reason he offers?: he was a t a cocktail party and some "liberal" called guiliani a fascist. he got so darn sick and tired of the way lib'ruls label conservatives that it drove him to the other side.
--because you know rightwingers have never, ever engaged in namecalling.

I used to watch Dennis Miller Live back in the day and found it pretty funny, so I though "cool, Dennis Miller's a funny guy, and he'll probably talk a bit of smack about Dubya."

Instead he professed his undying love for Dubya. I was disappointed.

35. Actually, Dennis did entertain
his viewers when he got his ass kicked by mild-mannered Eric Alterman. Alterman shut Dennis down so completely, he couldn't speak. Dennis just put his head down on his desk. Like the other wingnuts, Miller wasn't prepared for a real opponent. When the fight isn't fixed, these guys fall apart. Like O'Reilly losing it with the kid whose father died in the towers. And his spittle spewing "Shut Up" rants. Or Rush coming unglued and turning into a puddle of sweat when faced with a live audience. (that doesn't happen anymore).
Miller is a whore. If you paid him enough, he'd repudiate every conservative thought he's voiced and promote socialism. He's also lazy. As soon as a guest mentions what he doesn't understand, he quickly changes the subject to hide his ignorance.
Ain't working.

He was asked to run against Boxer and chose not to. It's probably in his future. It's the California repub strategy - name recognition means a cheaper race.

Who knows, maybe he is paying MSNBC to keep his show on just to get his name on the repub's map (joking, but not really).
