OK, where are our daily Terrorism alerts?
I haven't heard the "T" word much since last October, when I heard it several times a day. Is Homeland Security still running the Terror Alert Machine or is it having it's harddrive cleaned? Maybe since B* was reinstalled, we should assume we're on permanent Green? Seriously, has anyone heard a Terror Level report lately? I don't watch Fox. Will W give us the latest terror report in his inaugural speech?

1. Now that W* has won we don't need scare tactics right now.
Trust me, they will come again. When bush* is in another crisis you can bet the alerts will come hot and heavy.

4. How is it that no one mentions this anywhere?
The whole point of cheney's stump speeches were to scare the shit out of us and now we don't even see him any more.

If you took a look at the number of his appearances and the number of terror alerts in the run up to the election and compare them to post-election you'd probably see a a big correlation.

7.  Yeah, a Before and After analysis...
Number of Terror alerts, No times word "Terrorism" used in media, no of Cheny appearances related to Terror.

I'd sure like to see some numbers, and a graph. Would the graph look like a big peak followed by a flat line? Like the patient was in crisis and then the patient died on Nov 2?

22. Some idiot recenlty put their lava lamp on their stove - where it
overheated and sent shards of glass flying through his sternum killing him.

Had this happened prior to the election, it would have been a terrorist plot (at least I think it would have).

23. Whoa. Didn't know that.
It's a Darwin award contender, for sure.

and yes, quite likely, if there was a way to connect it and **'s numbers were slumping, it would have been on the list.

6. Quite the mystery, isn't it?
There's been barely a peep about it, even during all the New Year's celebrations, which had been depicted as disasters-waiting-to-happen in years past.

And the drop-off in prattle coincides almost exactly with the end of the presidential campaign.

Sure is a heck of a coincidence. You don't think the Bushies were using terrorism alerts for political purposes, do ya? Perish the thought! :grr:

Let's put some meat on these bones -- calling DU researchers

Here are the dates of the post 9-11 terror alerts (taken from this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,12... )

Let's pull together some of the things going on during these periods that were detrimental to the Bush administration. We ALL know Howard Dean was right, that in fact there were things the Bush admin at the very least wanted to knock off the front page ... let's flesh this baby out. I'll add a post for each date, and responses for those dates can be tucked under those posts, if you will.

Chart: Bush Ratings vs. Terror Alerts

heh, heh, heh . . . anyone see a pattern here? . . . via Metafilter . . .

Chart: Bush Ratings vs. Terror Alerts

http://juliusblog.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_juliusblog_ar...

I have put together a chart comparing Bush approval numbers to the timeline of terror alerts. (Thanks to Stuart Eugene Thiel for his amazing daily graphics that he prepares, comparing the approval ratings from different polls. )You can see it by clicking in the graphic below:

(snip)

There are few things that are quite evident from the chart:

- Whenever his ratings dip, there's a new terror alert.

- Every terror alert is followed by a slight uptick of Bush approval ratings.

- As we approach the 2004 elections, the number and frequency of terror alerts keeps growing, to the point that they collapse in the graphic. At the same time, Bush ratings are lower than ever.

10. They are being held in reserve ...
for the time that the American people begin to gather in revolt. As soon as unrest starts to become a noticable threat I guarantee you that the alerts will start coming hot and heavy.

And if that doesn't quiet things down, some terrorist horror will somehow get through the invincible security system and scare the bejeezus out of the us.

The Father, Son and Holy Ghost Bush will then, once again, have the full support of the whole country to rape, pillage, and enslave every single soul on this blessed earth.

11. Somebody finally figured out the disconnect between
"George Bush is the only person who can save us from the terrorists" and "Watch out, the terrorists are everywhere" and

"We are safer now, because of George Bush" and "The terrorist threat is being rolled back".

They have finally picked a theme and, by god, they are sticking with it.
Besides, the terrorist chatter is down, so that means we are winning.

Except, the chatter was down just prior to 9/11 also, because the plans had been set.

Bushco is setting up another LIHOP, so there will be an excuse for the draft and the invasion of Iran/Syria.

15. the hunt for Osama is over
A short while after the election (no I'm not kidding) they announced that they had stopped seeking Osama.

Sheesh. Can you imagine what would have been said if Nixon had said, "Oh don't bother about that Charles Manson?" And he directed the murder of a tiny fraction of the number that Osama did.

We'll never go below "yellow" alert, which is where we are now, but I think the color codes will be quietly allowed to die eventually. Terror is so 2001 you know! And expecting justice for murder victims is totally, totally the Sept. 10 mentality.

So the War on Terror is over and the Chimperor has declared himself the winner. Gee, I feel safer already. Not.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

17. won't need it
until the 2006 midterm (s)elections get geared up and the bushies* need terra-lerts to justify invading Iran or Syria

right now they are on a Social Insecurity alert -- i.e. Social Security is collapsing etc...

HOWEVER - if they can figure out how to link social security and terra-lerts we might see the bush* choir out there singing "they hates our social security"
