HELP - Need names of grass roots organizations devoted to health care
Groups that focus on either creating national health care, or improving our broken health care system.

A doctor has asked for this info, which is hopeful news. Means that doctors want to see the system fixed!

1. www.communitycatalyst.org www.hcfama.org www.realclout.org
They are three associated groups working in Boston on federal and state health care initiatives.

I work with Community Catalyst on Medicaid issues. They have an extensive publications section you might check out. Hope these are kind of what you're looking for, I'm sure there are others, but, like I said, I'm familiar with these.

A Guide to Universal Healthcare

www.actorsfund.org/ahirc/healthcarereform.html

to list a few:
Americans for Health Care
Americans for Health Care is working to win common-sense solutions that increase access to reliable, affordable health care coverage for ALL.

Amerian Medical Students Association's Universal Health Care Initiative
From website: "AMSA supports a single-payer national insurance program similar, but not identical to the Canadian model. As the name implies, a single-payer system consists of a single insurance entity. In this case the single insurer would be the federal government."

America’s HEALTHTOGETHER
From website: "... a bipartisan public policy educational group focused solely on one critical slice of American life - making sure everyone has good health care."

Physicians for a National Health Program
National organization advocating a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health care program.

State Coverage Initiative
Site provides a variety of research-based tools for information about health insurance advocacy and the establishment of a national healthcare program. Click on the “State reports” link on the left side of the page to search for information specific to individual states – also searchable by keyword. Provides a valuable source of insurance advocacy information. SCI works with states to plan, execute, and maintain health insurance expansions, as well as to improve the availability and affordability of health care coverage.

Universal Health Care Action Network (UHCAN)
Serves as a national resource and strategic center to help build the capacity of the movement for health care justice and facilitate the development of strategies to create a U.S. health care system that is universal, comprehensive, high quality, affordable and publicly accountable. Includes state-by-state activities and current legislation related to the movement.
