Calling lawyers for info... |
|
In regards to the Stanley Hilton civil lawsuit alleging that Bush personally ordered the September 11 attacks....
I've done a little googling trying to find out where the lawsuit stands or whatever happened to it, and the only information I have is that the court is waiting for Bush to file a motion to dismiss???
So, my question is thus - how long can Bush tie this up dragging his feet regarding this motion - is the suit dead in the water, just because he failed to even acknowledge it???? How do these things work???

1. A general answer for you.... |

This may vary slightly depending on the jurisdiction in which the case is filed, but, a defendant in a lawsuit generally has 30 days from the date he is served with the complaint to respond/answer the complaint. Extensions can be stipulated to if both parties agree, but I doubt that's happened here. Somebody linked up to Lexis can probably do a quick check to see if a standard answer with general denials has been filed (which is basically a long "nuh-uh!" with little substance).
He can't make it go dead in the water by not responding--I'm assuming his attorneys will attempt to get it booted, but they'll have to respond formally to the court to do so.
