15. That was jenna's gown....
she's the ample-figured one. Notice the straps on the green gown - that's not gonna break. i'm questioning crepe with leather and jewel detailign tho. seems like it would weigh the material down and make it fall funny.

as for bar's gown - i actually like it. it's a bit racy for good christian girls tho.

18. Donald Wildmon is gonna have kittens over these gowns
I got a note from my good friend Don asking me to ask the White House to un-invite Kid Rock from playing the inaugural.

I can just imagine Wildmon, one of the leaders of the talibornagain, when he sees these gowns. Fucker will send green-tulle and blue-chiffon burqas to the WH by express mail.

Then again...this could be the Bushites' way of telling the BTs, "thanks for putting us back in the WH; now get lost."

51. The designers donate them for the publicity in most cases like this..
Same deal with Oscar night, etc. Stars get offers months in advance asking them to wear certain designers clothes - free - just to get their name out there.

Same with the jewelry - almost all the jewelry you see at those award shows is loaned to them by fancy jewelers.

Such a life.....

37. Yes, there are, but
Jenna loves when her bosom hangs out, yet Barbara's gown seems more risque. Perhaps Jenna and Barbara will get into a match-up like Lucy and Ethel's "Friendship, friendship, just a perfect friendship" song, and rip each others' gowns off. Of course, then we would have to call the FCC.

47. Most of us do focus on the issues--most of the time.
However, these frocks are part of the obscene Republican victory celebration--paid for by Bush contributors (who've mostly already been reimbursed) & the city of DC. And probably some of our tax money is involved.

Bush promised to bring honor & dignity back to the White House. Just another promise broken.

48. It's unseemly when 150,000 have just been swept from the face of the earth
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 10:21 AM by Stephanie
When soldiers are being killed every day. It's just particularly obnoxious for them to be boasting about their designer gowns and the eight balls at a cost of $40M to fat-cat donors and $12M to DC itself. It's unseemly and disgusting. So yes, I will rag on their gowns.

*edit - not exactly replying to you Bridget but agreeing with you in response to the other poster*

52. and another thing....
Does anyone else get so pissed off at how these little sluts dress on an everyday basis? Why Hillary Clinton would never think of disgracing her father with some of the godawful crap those two little bootlickers wear! Its disgusting. I mean low cut jeans and tiny little tops might be okay for behind the scenes but when you're gonna be photographed with the POTUS for god's sake - have a little respect.

i just can't figure out how the moral "majority" aligns themselves with a family that obviously never let the word "moral" interfere with raising their little brats (barabara, jenna, jebby, george p. and what's jeb's druggie daughter named?)!

Anthony Nak Chosen Once Again to Design Inaugural Jewelry for Jenna and Barbara Bush
Tuesday January 11, 5:05 am ET

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthony Camargo and Nak Armstrong, famed creators of Anthony Nak, will fly to Washington DC to custom fit the Inaugural Jewelry for the Bush twins. This is the second time the designers have been accorded this honor by the Bush family, says Camargo. "We are thrilled to participate once again in this historic occasion." He adds, "both Jenna and Barbara have developed unique, self-possessed style that heralds them as models of the new modern woman as well as the first daughters."

Anthony and Nak will bring an array of statement making jewelry from which the girls will make their selection; their choices will include styles from the signature collection that the twins have been wearing since the first inauguration as well as delicate, yet stunningly dramatic diamond lace pieces from the "Nakard" diamond collection. The jewelry will flawlessly complement haute couture gowns by Oscar de la Renta, Badgley Mischka and Lela Rose. The custom jewelry fittings are, according to Anthony, "just as important in jewelry as in couture." Camargo and Armstrong will ensure that the eye- catching adornments selected by the twins will highlight the unique beauty that has made them American fashion icons.

For two evenings of glamour, The Boots and Black Tie Gala, and the Inaugural Gala, the girls will show off jewels that place them in the ranks of style mavens like Catherine Zeta Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie, all faithful Nak enthusiasts. Thus while au courant fashion and politics don't typically collide, the Bush twins are certain to make headlines as much for their show stopping bling and runway ensembles as for their political parentage.
