Heeeeeeeeers NEWTIE!
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 06:52 PM by pdmike
Anyone catch Newt on the "Today" show this a.m.? Ms. Perky (wid a bad code) was interviewing him - and the questions were really kind of friendly. (How odd from a "liberal media" person.)

I got the distinct impression he may run in 2008. He sure never said no when asked by Katie.

Could this be a new Repub strategy - make sure the public sees as much of their candidate as possible so that, by the time the election rolls around in 2008, it will seem as though he's already in office?

Newt could never make it because of his personal baggage? Don't kid yourself - the Republicans could sell Charles Manson to the idiots that voted for Dubya.

1. I am supporting Newt Gingrich for the Republican nomination
I think he would be SO fucking easy to take down in a general election.

I want a FULL boat fighting out that GOP nomination in 2008 anyway. The more the merrier.

2. Are you kidding?
What would any of us have said about GWB's chances in 1999? The population is so apathetic and uninformed that the packaging means so much more to them than what's inside. GWB is living proof.

3. Newt has a record
Bush did not.

Anyone that served in Congress as long as Newt did will have a massively difficult time surviving a general election.

Here's the recipe: Toss in the spectacular failures of much of his legislation, mix in his much publicized ethics violations, and add a dash of marital infidelity to spice up his relationship with the biblethumpers.

Not a tasty treat on election day.

5. Uhh,
since the voting's rigged, anyone the RW puts up will win.

4. I don't think so . . .
If the RNC can sell that idiot Bush to the country, they sure as hell can sell Newt. Unlike Blinky, Newt can speak in public - VERY well. Do not underestimate this guy - he is as crafty as they come, he presents well to those who are not familiar with how dangerous he is under the surface, and I think he would be a very viable candidate for the cons in 2008.

Over at Hannity, they are talking Newt/Condi/Guilianni - pick your Presidential and VP candidates out of those three.
