Social Security Credibility: How About Fixing the Real Crisis?
http://www.democrats.org/news/200501120004.html

Washington, D.C. – During a White House forum on Social Security, President Bush laid out his case for why African American men should support his ideas for fixing the system. During the "town hall" Bush said, "African American males die sooner than other males do, which means the system is inherently unfair to a certain group of people…and that needs to be fixed."

"As usual, President Bush is stretching the truth on Social Security," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe. "Bush and the Washington Republicans are trying to hide two facts. First, Social Security, while a challenge is not a crisis; it is solvent until at least 2052. Second, Washington Republicans don't want to address the real crisis: the fact that African American men die sooner than the rest of the population isn't a Social Security problem; it is a health care problem. Under Bush, 7 million African Americans don't have any health insurance, which might explain why African American men have a lower life expectancy than the general population. What is 'inherently unfair' is for the President to ignore a health care crisis and yet invoke it to try to muster support for his Social Security privatization plan."
<snip>

What a flippin idiot. "black men die quick so it's not fair to them!", whatever jerkball! next he'll be saying, cops die quicker so it's not fair to them, people who do drugs die quicker so it's not fair to them, large women who play bingo die sooner so it's not fair to them... ON AND ON AND ON --- just TRYING to get people to go along with him that this whole PLAN that was designed by his cronies to make billions for the investment firms, is somehow good for them!

IT AIN'T!

1. And Social Security helps support their spouses and kids.
Sounds like a good thing to me!

Also, black men are disabled more frequently than white men, I believe. Social Security helps with disability for them.

Sounds like a good thing to me!

Honestly, we've got to learn the answers to this stuff till it rolls off our tongues without a second thought.

We know some of what they're going to say, let's be prepared for it.

How does privatization help the spouse and children of a worker who dies?

How does privatization help a person who gets disabled?

2. Your just not patriotic, or American, unmoral or gay not to support the
latest made up crisis of our intellectually superior president. I'll bet "My Pet Goat" isn't included on your reading list.
