LOL my stepfather is livid about chimpy's social security BS
he steadfastly supported the SOB for the last 4 years.
He voted for him.
hahahahhaha

too bad, the fact is, the changes probably won't affect him
because he won't live long enough.

2. those are the kind of people we need
to switch to the Democrats. to write their reps and senators.
I see the polls that show 52% disapproving of Bush and even more disapproving of Congress and I think "well you just had a chance to do something about that, you fools!"

4. my mother did!
they've been at it hot and heavy today because he denies any knowledge that chimpy was going to do that (I guess they didn't cover much of that on faux news) and of course, my mother who gets "my" editorials knew all about it.

9. Bush & the Republicans are going to pound their SS lies over & over & over
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 02:04 PM by Zinfandel
until it becomes truth, same old Rove & republican tactics they used before, with Iraq, tax cuts, etc...pounding away with their republican owned television media, radio, internet, and newsprint...until they get their foot in the door, they can then comepletely destroy a working democratic and excellent program like Social Security, forever...

It's the republicans wet dream, it's republican ideology, to destroy Social Security and they are just plain mean and hateful of people having government look after their future!!!

They want that money, via their investment corporations, which WILL fuck us over and steal our future...

See it's your own fault, YOU made bad investments with your retirement to the wrong corporations that went bankrupt...You should of kept and fought for SS...Too late!! Pardon me, where does this food line end so I can stand in line too.

10. So...GULP... Bush lied?
The reality that the crazy monkey is a crook is starting to dawn on America. The sad thing is so many are just now seeing the tip of the iceberg.

Thanks for sharing, mimitabby. Hope that enough people wake up to keep the crooks in Congress from stealing what's left of SS.

13. People believe what they want to hear, and the Republicans know
how to serve up the bullshit. Then the republicans get on with their real and planned agenda.

Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 01:42 PM by Zinfandel
They could accept the lies as long as it didn't hurt them...Mean, greedy fuckers!

By the way how many REPUBLICANS live on Social Security too?

The same thing republican Governor Musclehead is trying to do, on a state level in California, all republicans are the same, no matter how much they lie to pretend compassion, their ideology NEVER lies!!!!!!!!!!

18. Most people don't remember what
life was like for seniors before SS. When I was a kid my grandmother was forced out of her apartment and spent her last years spending a few weeks at a time with each her three children, not wanting to be too much of a burden to any one.

SS has given seniors a degree of independence and dignity that my grandparent's generation never knew. Now the asshole repukes want to go back to that time of dependence and poverty for the millions of seniors who don't retire with a big nest egg? What the hell is wrong with these people?

As for Frankenegger...Did you see the bastard putting in a photo op in La Conchita yesterday? The CNN idiot called him the "popular California governor." Popular, my ass. The moron could not have even been elected in a legitimate election. What a nightmare.

14. I've been having the same experience
People who have whole-heartedly and blindly supported bush* are now fuming at his SS plan....I think this is THE issue which will finally erode his support among the working-class voters where I live. Here, SS is sacrosanct, people don't trust the Market, and wouldn't invest in it even if they had the $$ and the know-how. Trust those New Yawk Yankee business people with their hard-earned dollars? They don't think so! They may not trust and like the guvmit too much, but they know their old grannies and grampaws are getting their "checks" and they like SS. bush's plan will be a hard sell down here. I'm loving it.

17. Nope, this isn't the issue-everyone keeps saying "this" will be the issue
or "that" will be the issue, that will stop Bush, but it NEVER happens...wishful thinking.

people will believe as the republican owned corporate media pounds away at them night and day that Social Security is 'broken"...it takes time, but little by little Rove and the Republicans have proven people will believe if you relentlessly pound them with the same lie, over and over as the republicans and the media are doing now.

We are going to have to fight hard, very hard for this one.

16. Here's the shorthand version
For the kids in the back of the classroom who just don't quite get it, even yet:

Republicans engage in scare tactics and call it truth.

Democrats tell the truth about those scare tactics, and Republicans denounce that as a scare tactic.

When a Republican is trying to convince you there's a crisis, he's after your wallet. When a Democrat is trying to tell you about a crisis, it's because there really is something to be concerned about.

Republicans have and exercise total control over all aspects of the government, and have for nearly four full years. There is no way Democrats can enact any part of their agenda. Whatever has happened in the last two legislatures and that will happen in the next two are totally and wholly done by the Republicans.

Despite what teevee and reddy-o tell you.

21. If that was Kerry's stump speech, I mean EXACTLY that, we'd be
calling him President-Elect Kerry right now.

NOTE: NOT intended as gratuitous(npi) Kerry bashing, more intended as a point of praise on Gratuitous' ingenious thinking.
