Greatest Talent of the Bush Administration: The Manufactured Crisis
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 09:06 PM by Sandpiper
Bushco managed to convince a majority of Americans that if we didn't invade Iraq, Saddam Hussein would be nuking Disney World.

Now they're busy convincing people that if we don't turn Social Security over to Wall Street, it will be bankrupt next week.

It's up to us to make sure #2 doesn't succeed, or else we can look forward to more manufactured crises.

1. really, i don't think they convinced the majority, only a very few
slow propaganda eaters. they just went ahead and did it without anyone's approval.

2. The article in Washington Post used the term "fabricated crisis"
I believe the author of the article is Meyerson. I might even be wrong about the paper, but definitely it's "fabricated crisis," as in one great big fat unmitigated lie.

3. Why Wouldn't They Keep Doin' It?
It's what they do - sew fear.

Dick Cheney chanting over and over: "If John Kerry is elected, al Qaeda is more likely to attack America."

It's way easier to scare people than to inspire them.

4. crisis?
So why do the Democrats always rubber stamp everything demanded by Bush?

Why didn't they demand PROOF of WMD?

Why give 100 % approval to the illegal war?

Why no demands for impeachment?

Why stand up and applaud every 2 minutes during the State of the Union speeches?

While I principally blame Bush for the war and for screwing up the economy, Democrats deserve a good portion of the blame for giving him everything that he wants.

6. The "Hegelian Dialectic"...
Create the crisis you need, supply the solution that will benefit the true perpetrators the most...

See The Carlyle Group, Halliburton, Bechtel, and their use of mercenaries (civilian contractors, ususlly ex-special forces ops) for security...
