Iraq is WW3
Democracy imposed? Theocracy? No Saddam? No WMD? Makes no difference to the basic goal of resource theft. America was determined to sit at the same table with OPEC and dictate prices on their newly discovered wealth. Genocide as a byproduct. Deficits be damned. Soon America will be an oil exporter to the richest nations on the planet: China & India. The new paradigm - use that mother-fucking world class death technology to get what you want. Who else has stuff America wants?

Oh wait, never mind that, the real problem is did we rise from chimpanzees or are we caricatures of the almighty? Since this universe is too complicated to explain, it therefore must be divinely created. How completely arrogant and self obsessed man-chimp has become.

12. If you think what is going on now is a WW, your bar should be
low enough for all the proxy wars we fought against "communism" - around the world - to be a WW too, no?

4. I don't think the US will be exporting much oil from Iraq.....
The occupying forces are about to get their asses handed to them if they don't clear out.

5. Same here.
The objective was devised by morons. But that was the goal.

6. Bingo. Their Outcome Goal was resource hegemony.
Their Outcome Result may very well be asses handed back on plates.

Hence failure in the Objectives catagory.

8. That was the idea, but it has backfired badly, and US forces are paying
..for it.

They are in the worst combat readyness state in the last 40 years.

9. Not yet, but it is bound to bleed into the rest of the area
Some, though, think WWIII, or IV depending how you look at the cold war, is going to happen when China eats up Russia.

11. China has ALWAYS pretty much stayed where it is.
The borders fluctuate somewhat (!!) but governing one fifth of the world population is enough to give anyone enough of a headache.

The Iraq situation was indeed supposed to spark of World War III
but it has turned into
a simple case of mercenaries being killed off before payday
and the US being shocked and awed by the people of Fallujah.

13. WW3 or Vietnam II?
I'm not sure if the whole world will jump in like a World War, or if it will just be us and our small coalition fighting a guerilla war. Right now it looks like more of a Vietnam II, and I hope it doesn't escalate to WW3 levels.
