When were you first exposed to Bush?
What was your first experience with Bush? The Texan Dems have had to deal with him even longer than most of us.

The first time I saw him was at one of those '00 republican primary debates and my first impression was "this guy is more inarticulate and dumber than Dan Quale".

This was also the first presidential race I followed extremely closely from the begining. It was also from that moment I realized that I was a Dem (though I really had never liked any republican before then). Everyone of those on that stage seemed crazy, except for McCain (at the time I liked him).

So when did you find out about Bush? Was it that quiz on world leaders? I remember that pretty well too.

7. Around summer of 1999.
He was on a news show and looked like someone who was trying to get the presidency on nepotism.

at the idea of running bushes kid in the primaries thinkin damn those repubs must be desperate to run a former presidents son.

and then I thought all that chatter about how close it was going to be was media hype to get people watching the news.

I honestly thought that people would not stoop to voting for some silver spooned moron.

I also thought that arnold didn't have a shot at winning the governorship here in cali

I also thought that Kerry was going to win in a landslide!

I dont know shit...

11. I had the same reaction.
Harper's magazine had an article talking about a possible Bush Dynasty back in 1999 or so -- it seemed like science fiction.

Argh.

18. I laughed too when I first saw Bush over a decade ago
I remember thinking, why does someone as lazy and stupid as that moron want to be governor? I'll never forget the chill that came over me when I realized THEY are running him for governor because THEY will run him for president - and I knew we would be in a world of shit and I was right.

while daddy bush was Prez (or V.P.?) --

That article was a real eye opener. Boys who used their daddy's name to scam the world.

10. I believe in late '99 when his name was being bandied about on the
networks as a possible candidate. I distinctly remember chuckling to myself, and thinking.."Jeezus, is that the best that they can offer...??" I mean we had just gotten rid of his lame-ass father..

12. 1st time I paid attention was with his windfall with the "Rangers" and
thier ball park, paid for dearly by the citizens of Arlington. Then he ran for gov and god was it an ugly race. No way I ever believed he would when win the first time, but the night of the "selection", when he said he wasn't worried about Florida and the subsequent nightmare, I knew we were in for lots of heartache and trouble. Especially when I say who is "appointments" were, straight out of Daddy I and his admin and the admin before him. Criminals one and all, no one seemed to be able to recall Iran-Contra.
