Christians offer halftime show alternative (Super Bowl)
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42376

A nationwide TV satellite system will offer a Christian alternative to this year's Super Bowl halftime show, hoping people disgusted by last year's Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" will change channels to take in something more uplifting.

Sky Angel said in a statement it is anticipating that subscribers to its service will be seeking something else to watch during halftime of the Feb. 6 game.

"Many Christians are planning on watching the Super Bowl but are looking for something more inspirational to watch during halftime," said Kathy Johnson, Sky Angel's vice president of programming. "After last year's halftime show incident, we understand people's desire for an alternative for their families and church members."

Last year's show on CBS included the exposure of Jackson's breast during a routine she performed with Justin Timberlake, an incident that resulted in widespread condemnation of the network and an FCC probe leading to a $550,000 fine.

I'm still amazed that so much hub-bub was generated by a glimpse of a female breast.

1. Tens of people, around the world...
Will be watching.

Of course, watching someone make animals out of balloons is generally more entertaining than the average StuporBowl halftime "event". ;-)

9. Donnie and Marie Osmond?
Or someone else with a low likelihood of wardrobe malfunction. (And who, if one did occur, would not lead us into temptation.)

I guess a knighted pacifist vegetarian was a little to much for the christians. He did promise no wardrobe malfunctions though.

These same divinely-inspired folks will be ogling the cheerleaders during the game, but have to find something 'wholesome' during halftime. They'd be funny if they weren't so dangerous.

11. I have always been confused by the issues over nudity on tv.
The female breast is one of the first things we as infants are able to identify and come in contact with. It nourishes and comforts us. Why are we so scared of them?

We haven't had the opportunity yet, but my friends and I decided that since the FCC deals with stuff that offends people, and they judge that by who complains, we want to call in and inform them that we are offended by the censorship of nudity and language on tv. I'm offended that you can't see 'Animal House' without parts being cut out of it. I'm offended that I can't see healthy, non-sexual nudity in the appropriate contexts on tv. And I'm offended by everyone being forced to hold to 'moral values' that they don't all believe in when it comes to what we can watch on tv. Learn how to change the channel, morons. I do it when the 700 Club comes on, and so can you.

20. Why...
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 04:03 PM by Harry S Truman
Why do these people have to constantly be inspired by something "inspirational"? Seems like their religion must not be that great if they need to always be reminded of it and have in slammed in their (and everyone else's) face all the time.

18. so much hub-bub was generated by a glimpse of a female breast.
and i am still amazed that you think all the hub bub is over a tit. regardless of time and time again being told it is not about the tit. it is about the whole sexualization of a damn football game that our children are watching. the dance to the vest being ripped off by male in an aggressive move. teaching both our young girl and boys something inappropriate. the viagra commercials. the boob twin commercials, a woman humping ground ready to give a room full of young men blow jobs.

but wtf, if you want to keep just seeing it as

hub-bub was generated by a glimpse of a female breast.

then you will never ever get it, you are right

26. The fact still remains that if the wardrobe had not malfunctioned
no one would have been discussing the event the next day.

All of the "good Christians" I know who were upset about this stunt are the same ones who have no qualms allowing their 8- and 9-year-olds watch professional wrestling.

29. You seem to be of the ilk that all parents should be outraged
about this particular stunt and the goings-on in professional sports.

1) I don't find breasts offensive -- neither do my children. Matter of fact, we don't find any particular piece of the body offensive. (It wouldn't make one iota of difference to us if the entire half-time show cast was completely nude.)

2) Sex and professional sports have always walked hand-in-hand. My apologies if you only recently became aware.

30. twilight zone here, it is not the nakedness
we are not opposed to nakedness in this house. we embrace it. this is not what i am refering to. and i am thinking i have been pretty clear on that. but then you dont want to hear what i am really talking about, cause you cant dismiss it as easily. if you bring me to the point of a prude and shielding children in a retarded fashion, then you can sound superior. whatever

no it hasnt always been in sport. i grew up in competitive sport. i know what competition is all about. as did my two brothers.

i know the garbarge they are putting on these shows are to satisfy the lust of male, ..........which isnt appropriate for a 5 year old girl or boy. so if you want this to be a adult only program merely say so. and i will do my job as a parent and not allow my children to see their father while he is watching football, not knowing what inappropriate image will pop up

i am not being the unreasonable one. i am not judging you. nor your parenting. want to give your kids this garbage go for it yours to do

you are the one that dismisses my concerns as an adult and parent, ......

31. All I am trying to say is that if I held your same concerns
I wouldn't be sitting around waiting for some network executives or goverment agency to provide me with a mature program rating.

And, at the risk of sounding argumentative, extreme sexuality has always been a part of professional sports. It's on of the ways they have continued to put butts in the seats.

I usually don't bother with the half time show. I watch the game, some of the commercials, and replenish the food and drinks during half time.

I don't care if 50 chanels want to put on alternative half time shows. The entertainers probably will, but TS. Not my problem.
