Remember the volumes of documents he sent and all the data CD's? The day after we got them, Bush claimed they were bogus. How did anyone have any time to even open them all?

35. Saddam told us the truth while Bush lied to us.
He said he had no WMDs, produced a 12,000-page report that said so which we disputed. Saddam told us he didn't have any WMDs and he also told us that our invading Iraq would lead to a blood bath and that we would see many US soldiers dying in the streets of Baghdad. I think an international court would release Saddam and put Bush in jail instead. The US administration committed gross war crimes and ought to be held accountable but they won't be. As for Richard Perle...he is PNAC slime.

5. Perle said one minute that Saddam could have proven
he had no WMDs but when Tweety asked him if he would have been satisfied with that Perle says "Ah I was in favor of taking him down no matter what."

So that's nice, talk about setting a dangerous precedent. Or, dangerous president.

6. No
"Will they NEVER STOP!!"

They've been around a long time. There's no reason to think they won't be here in the future. We have people from Iran-Contra currently creating the same policy from 20 years ago in Washington, and even some new ones.

See you in Camp 6.

It's Saddam's fault for not having the WMD.

These people are so blind to reality, they don't even realize they are parroting their own satire.

21. Remember when the Iraqi goverment offered all those documents,
attempting to "prove" that they did not have WMD? I remember the right-wing talking heads at the time said that the huge amount of documents proved that Iraq was hiding WMD.

They said it was an obvious attempt to stall for time by releasing too much information to review. Fools. Only fools could believe that garbage.

for life, perhaps do the Abu Ghraib thing on them for awhile... we will never get out from under the calamity that is heading our way. I say lock 'em up and throw away the key. They are war criminals pure and simple... I am sure no one in Europe would argue this point.

that the Iraq Invasion was illegal but the right thing to do.

Maybe it was?

John Kerry said he would have voted for the Iraq resolution even if he knew that there were no WMDs in Iraq.

34. Funny story about Richard Perle
I'm wrapping up reading "Charlie Wilson's War", which is a journalistic history of the US covert support of the Afghans during the Russia occupation, and how Rep. Wilson (D-TX) was arguably the driving force behind US support.

Anyway, Perle was known even back then as a foam-flecked anti-Communist. But whatever his foam-flecked bona fides, he didn't have much even then to do with reality.

You see, Perle had this brainstorm. All we had to do was get the Russian soldiers in Afghanistan to defect to the Afghan guerillas, especially if we promised them a new life in America, and in no time at all, we'd have a "Free Russian" fighting force (modeled on Vlasov's army of anti-Stalin Russians who fought with the Wehrmacht in WWII) with which to fight back.

Just a few problems with this visionary scheme. For one thing, Russians who survived their capture (and there weren't many, given what the Russians & their Afghan allies did to large parts of the country), were often repeatedly raped by their captors. It was also common practice for Afghan guerillas to cut the arms and legs off of prisoners and dump them on roads just before a convoy came through, so that the Russians would be so pissed-off they'd immediately pursue, and end up in an ambush.

The only Russian prisoners the Muj produced were handed over at the specific request of the CIA. One was nearly catatonic from his experience, while the other quickly ended up in jail for robbing a 7-11 in suburban DC. So much for Vlasov's Army, v. 2.0, and interesting evidence that Perle was a clueless dickhead a full 20 years ago, which explains his remaining a clueless dickhead even today. :eyes:

36. What absolutely blows my mind about all this is that if this Iraq invasion
had been carried out by Clinton or a Dem successor, the nation would be in flames by now from the right wing blowback. I am certain that our own government would have tried Clinton for war crimes.
