A new chance for the Senate Dems to stand up to Bush... |
|
Alot has been said on this forum about what the vote for or against the use of force authorization means to whether or not they deserve our support for the nomination.
Well, here it is....put up or shut up time....Bush is going to the Congress to ask for $87 Billion for Iraq. Let's see if Edwards/Graham/Kerry/Lieberman will lead the fight to enforce some conditions on this adminstration's handling of the war....
For example: for Iraq and Afganistan...
1) Force open the books on the contacts awarded to date for anything dealing with Iraq and Afganistan... 2) Demand that any contracts yet initiated and any in the future be open bid contracts to any company around the world... 3) Give control of the reconstruction, civil government and the oil revenues over to the UN...thereby limiting the US's role to maintaining the integrity of the Iraqi boarder and eleminating those elements of the Baathist insurgents... 4) Submit a ten year plan, worked out with the Iraqi's, the Un and the US for a plan for the development of Iraq (and Afganistan)...
please feel free to add or edit my suggestions, but if these four Senators do not use their offices to at least fight this battle, do they realy deserve to be our party's nominee for President of the United States....
email these Senators and ask them to put up or shut up....

1. And Joe "Bush" Biden will lead the charge FOR Bush! |
|
CC Joe Biden on anything you send to your reps.
It is of no use to make an appeal to him; he has given himself completely to the dark forces. Fine - but he should know first hand what he is up against.

It took all of five minutes for this thread to get pushed off the first page....people are more concerned about posting about how much Bush sucked instead of trying to actually do something to take advantage of this inherent weakness in his presidency....
ohh well....

One of two choices to pay for the Iraq occupation
1. Roll back part of the tax cuts
or
2. Approve a war surtax on the defense contractors and oil suppliers, the ones making the profit from this war.

5. I don't think they'll have the guts... |
|
I will email them and hope for the best.
BUT, I am not optimistic. If they slow down or stop the approval of this money, they will be cast (by the "liberal" media) as not caring about the troops, weak on national security, etc. And weak on national security is exactly what a candidate for president does not want to be. (BTW, I'm not trying to justify their their potential votes. If they give * this money with no conditions, it would be unforgivable.)
I think Graham might be our only hope on this. I will be pleasantly surprised if the others come through.
