The Bible should have a disclaimer in it that says..... |
|
All this crap about text books having disclaimers that say "Evolution is not a fact but a theory" has really just about put me over the edge and made me want to scream! The stupidity in this country is maddening!
I say the Bible should have a disclaimer in it that says:
"This book contains information that is wrong and goes against all laws of science, the laws of physics, gravity, nature and common sense. When reading it we recommend you laugh your ass off and skip to the good parts which are few and far between. Please keep in mind that men were paid to put this together and it promotes many evil things including rape, slavery and murder. It is riddled with thousands of contradictions and for Christ sake who ever would believe that all the animals in the world went two by two on to a boat during a flood that crashed on a mountain that is 29,000 foot tall must have the mentality of a three year old child. If you find yourself believing in the things in this book you should immediately get help by getting a real education and TURN OFF the trinity broadcasting misinformation cult network. We also recommend you learn to think for yourself and read lots of books that will open your small mind so you can become well again. It's now time to become an adult again and re-enter the modern world leaving fairy-tails, story's of men walking on water and giant serpents that are no where to be found in the fossil record behind. If you do not do these things then god help us all!"
It's so funny and sad, but based on scientific observation, the probability of the creation theory of the Bible being true is basically Zero. But walking on water for some reason does not need to be observed by scientific rules, it's given a free pass. This is what is called "Intellectual Anarchy." Creationists love "Intellectual Anarchy" because it's the only way they can win. The state of education in this country is scary!

1. I was reading about the Delaware court case in the paper today |

I think that if I were teaching biology (I have BS in Bio/Env Sci), I would consider accepting the premise (bogus though it is) that teaching "intelligent design" allows students the intellectual curiosity of pursuing alternatives.
I would offer up "intelligent design" as part of a scientific method lesson and let the kids with a brain that they control on their own come to the obvious conclusion.

2. The problem with thrusting god into science, |
|
even under the words "intelligent design," is that god tries to be all the answers. That sort of thing is the enemy of science, which seeks to ask more questions than it answers at any given time. Nothing stunts scientific inquiry more than pointing to a sacred text and saying, "God did it." Scientific inquiry then becomes blasphemy.
Sorry, folks, but since nobody can much agree on who or what god is and whether or not one exists, the best place to keep him is in the churches. He certainly doesn't belong in science texts.

You could consider evolution to be a pretty damn creative example of intelligent design.

Or just one little sticker that says: "Warning may cause delusional behavior" or "This book is just one example of religious theory. It is not meant to be taken literally please consult other religious and atheist texts for broader understanding."

7. Can't you defend yourself? Lets hear your arguments? |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 02:11 AM by Quixote1818
That's what this forum is for. Getting to the real truth by debate and discussion. Look, I am a spiritual person and believe the basic teachings of Jesus are awesome and very liberal but Thomas Jefferson had it right when he took out all the miracles in the Bible so it would agree with the laws of nature and science. Don't use this "They know not what they do" crap! Thats a complete cop out and it's condescending. Use arguments and facts not bible quotes to defend yourself.
Also, I don't literally think the Bible should have a disclaimer because that would go against the separation of church and state and our laws but I think the world would be a better more educated and peacefull place if the bible did have a disclaimer that told people to open up their minds up a little.

Still results in the same anti-religious and anti-Christian posts.
After a while, they are almost mass-produced.
