Social classes and tribes mingling with each other.
Heavens, that might just lead to social pollution as they compared notes with one another.
Have you no shame for suggesting this.
My-O-My, what has become of the social sensibilities in this country.

2. President Clinton had 14, what is your point? |

Just another petty issue that makes us look like bitter hypocrites.

4. Did President Clinton have 14 during a bitter war & post-tsunami? |
|
Did 200,000 people die a month beofre his inaugural? In that case, that would have made "us" look petty.

9. What a well though out response. |

and what makes you say that? Because I disagree with your opinion or I point out an actual fact? I guess that everyone must believe exactly what you do.

6. Bush constantly says he's a Christan. So do his supporters. |
|
And he's spending a ton more on this inauguration than he initially planned to send to tsunami victims. It was only after massive public outrage that he finally upped the aid.
I think that was the original poster's point, and I don't think it makes us look like hypocrites at all. It only shows that Bush is a hypocrite. If you can't see that, then...

Partying CEOs, high-rolling corporate donors, third-rate celebrities and drunken daughters in designer dresses, a few military men with lots of shiny medals trotted out as stage props for the "honoring the troops" theme...
OR
Hungry, homeless people still looking for missing relatives' bodies in the surf and the rubble, or families trying to get out from under the next US airstrike while trying to understand what they've done to deserve having their city destroyed....

12. Original post seems clear. |
|
He thinks nine parties is gluttony. Some may say 14 was also. I personally do not care either way. These are private events paid for by private money.
The tsunami is a tragic event but the world does not stop. Did you condem all of the Christmas and New Years parties held around the world? What about the upcoming Mardi Gras balls and parties?

13. In this time, nine parties IS gluttony. |
|
And you obviously cared enough to post in this thread and to compare Bush's inauguration to Clinton. It still doesn't matter whether or not Clinton had 14 inaugural parties. If Bush were a TRUE Christian like he claims he is, he would cancel the inauguration, tell all the private corporations that he's returning the money, and urge them to donate that money to the tsunami relief efforts.
But he's not. And since you had to compare Bush's inauguration to Clinton's, think on this: Clinton wasn't dealing with nearly 150,000 dead from a tsunami, a failing economy at home, and a seemingly endless occupation of a foreign country that is going nowhere fast.
The callousness of "the world does not stop" that you bring to this discussion doesn't surprise me. And anyone who LOUDLY proclaims their Christianity like Bush does then demonstrates massive displays of gluttony in the face of current events IS a hypocrite, whether you think so or not.
