“Moral values” teens say that Britney Spears best represented their ethics
She may also perform at the inauguration....

http://swiftreport.blogs.com/news/2004/11/britney_spears_.html

Just months ago, the media elite were lampooning the Louisiana- born chanteuse for telling CNN’s Tucker Carlson that “I think we should just trust our president in every decision that he makes and we should just support that.” Spears’ remarks even caught the ire of controversial film-maker Michael Moore. But with new youth voting data indicating a sharp up-tick of support for Mrs. Federline, liberal critics appear to have been caught on the wrong side of a trend yet again.

Young Values Voters

According to new data released by Youth Observed!, Inc., a teen trend-watching firm based in Northbrook, IL, 22% of voters under thirty said that “moral values” were the most important issue confronting the country, ahead of terrorism, the drinking age and school uniforms. Among these young values voters, says YO! analyst Samantha Triphorn, a whopping 74% said that Britney Federline best represented their ethics and ideals, compared with a scant 13% for rival singer Christina Aguilera. “We were certainly surprised that these voters broke so decisively for Britney,” says Triphorn. “None of our early polls predicted this outcome at all.”

Young voters who participated in exit polls said that it was Mrs. Federline’s decision to wed back in September that gave them a more positive view of the singer. First-time voter Cassie McKeon of Fort Worth, TX said that she was struck at how at peace Mrs. Federline sounded in a letter to fans penned just weeks after the wedding. “She said that she’d finally learned to say ‘no,’ and that had given her a newfound freedom.”

Most important to McKeon and the estimated 1.5 million teens who circulated Mrs. Federline’s letter: her eagerness to begin a family. “Being married is GREAT and I can’t wait to start my family!” wrote the singer in a diary entry dated 10/15. “There is so much change going on right now…not only with me, but in the world, as well. So, the next time you see my face, hear one of my songs or even if I’m the topic of your next conversation, please remember that times are changing and so am I.”

you can't take the trailer park out of the white trash, or something like that, paraphrasing another similar saying.

10. Yeah, Kid Rock...What An Ass
My husband and I were outraged at the Super Bowl halftime show. Kid Rock comes out looking like he cut a hole in the American flag and was wearing it a poncho. At one point in the song, he ripped it off and threw it on the ground. Oh yeah, like that's patriotic.

But of course, after boobgate, it doesn't matter that a supposedly good Republican desecrated (or at the very least disrespected) the flag.

6. If getting married gave them "a more positive view"
of her then shouldn't JLo have won?

Ok seriously from the looks of it the people taking the survey were only given two options, Britney or Christina so of course one of them has to win. That doesn't mean the people taking this poll were given good options.

13. Well, there ya go. Now we know what is wrong with this country.
Sounds like the moral values of Republicans are something we not only can live by but even be better at it than they are, since now we know where the bar lies - I think most of us are above it already.

14. Quite obviously...
... a goodly number of young voters are unclear on the concept of marriage as a value, and are thinking that the greatest number of times one is married wins.... :)

with bonus points for having three by the age of 19. It is a scary thought that red staters are pumping out kids like pez, producing another generation of uneducated, racist, homophobic, xenophobic Republicans.

The list of Britney Spear's ethics is shorter than any of Christina Aguilera's skirts (to paraphrase my good friend Ductapfatwa).

It looks bad, but look at the way the question was phrased or the context. It just asked between the 2 of them, Christina, and Britney. While neither is a paragon of virtue but, Britney does come off as less of a slut.

Maybe the question should have provided a broader spectrum from which to choose.

20. Are you sure Britney comes
off as less a slut ?

Before the quicky wedding she was screwing around with Federline (I think that's his name) and he had his other girl pregnant for the second time.

24. For all three of ya'...
I won't even pretend too assume what the true morals of either lady really boil down to. I am just giving you the impression i get from my kids, nieces, nephews, other young folks ect.

Whether Britney was moral or not, if you remember her whole shtick originally was "sexy, yet a good girl" regardless of what she has shown with her actions. While Christina pursued a bit more carefree style, shall we say.

At any rate, my original intention in my remark was to show the question was skewed anyway. Both through dress and habit show themselves to be "immoral" as perceived by many. If the question was to have any true weight there needed to be a more generous selection of "wholesome" girls.

It's kinda like asking you what would make you feel better about yourself, a punch in the gut or a slap in the face? Without offering you a hug as well.

27. Why does chainsmoking slut Britney reflect their values more than Xtina?
Because Xtina's slutty outfits are 1 micron smaller than Slutney's?

Because Xtina has a song that implies that ALL people are beautiful, but Britney's "songs" say nothing about anything?

Is it that she simply marries guys she wants to sleep with, then divorces, then marries again, rather than just sleeping with them like Xtina, or most other normal kids in their early 20s?

Or is it just her brain-dead, bubble-gum-popping endorsement of Bush that reflects their values?

29. So 74% of 22% of voters chose Brittney Spears as their moral leader
Um, sorry to disappoint but that's less than one in five. This is a stupid article. They're picking a small minority of voters and taking an even smaller percentage of them and saying that we liberals are on the wrong side of a trend. Please.
