My Roofer Is An Anti-Semite

My husband and I just had our roof redone (Hurricane Charley).
The sub-contractor must have noticed the stained glass Jewish star in the front window, because he hid a little surprise for us.

My husband was up on the roof seeing what they'd done after it was complete. On the frame around our bathroom skylight some one painted a swastika. You could only see it from the roof. He knows it wasn't there before because he was up there putting down tarps before Frances.

So, we called the contractor and told him to get rid of it. He told us he won't use the sub-contractor again.

My sister (who lives in Washington DC) says this is what I get for living in a red state.

My husband was home most of the week they were doing this. So he talked a little bit to the guys and they seemed nice.

it's the sub-contractor's fault. Why would anyone want to put a builder out of business because of and idiot sub-contractor he has hired to do the work.

This roofer is a really nice guy, when my husband was nailing down more tarps before Jeanne, this man was over at our neighbor's who was just getting ready to have his roof done at the time. The roofer told my husband how to better nail the tarp down and even gave him the special type of nails needed.

And we knew what would happen if we called the media. Either nothing or some stupid over dramatization that makes the roofer look bad for something his employee did. And it would be more of a headache for us. I think most bigots are quiet and closeted most of the time, this sort of attention would bring them out of the woodwork like cockroaches.

But now we have to wonder if these sub contractors did a lousy job, so we'll have to mention it to the county roofing inspector.
