3. Barbara Boxer is one of my favorite politicians and I signed her
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 07:14 PM by spenbax
petition, but then received a "thank you" email which also requested a donation. Boxer's in for another term as Senator, so what is the donation for - she gets paid well for doing her job and I'm sticking to my vow not to donate to another politician until 4 years from now. Anybody know what the money is for?

5. The automated form letter I received had no reqest for $ see:
Thank you so much for signing my petition to hold Condoleezza Rice accountable during next week's Senate confirmation hearings. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you standing up with me in this critical fight.

But I need you to do more.

Please forward this important petition to five of your friends -- today. Because Monday is Martin Luther King Day, we only have this weekend to gather more petition signatures before the confirmation hearings begin on Tuesday.

More than 10,000 Americans have already joined together with you and me in demanding the truth from Condoleezza Rice. But to make the greatest impact at the confirmation hearings next week, we need thousands more.

So please -- tell at least five of your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues to join our critical effort. And if you've already told five friends, tell five more! Invite them to sign our petition at pacforachange.com/petition. And let's send a message -- loud and clear -- to Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney, and George Bush that the American people demand real, honest, and complete answers to the questions about Iraq, Osama bin Laden, and the war on terrorism.

Thanks again for everything. Know that I'll be standing up for you next week in Condoleezza Rice's confirmation hearings, and every week so long as I have the privilege of serving the people of California in the United States Senate.

In Friendship,

Barbara Boxer
U.S. Senator

P.S. I can't over-emphasize how important it is for you to tell your friends about this petition. I know I can count on you to get our message out.

4. Gonzales
Gonzales
If I might piggyback this issue-
Tell Your Senator and Members of the Judiciary: Vote Your Values, Reject Gonzales
A reminder: keep the pressure on Senate Judiciary Cmte members by telling them to vote no on Alberto Gonzales.
Since LiberalOasis noted on Monday that key Dems remain publicly on the fence (and in turn, needed a big grassroots push), there’s been no change to that dynamic.
Values are not a mere buzzword to toss around.
They are “the foundation”. They are what you hold most dear. They “guide” your policies and actions every day.
So, if rejection of torture really is a value – a value that distinguishes Democrats from Republicans – it would dictate your vote on Gonzales.

12. Done yesterday. Barbara Boxer avenges justice.
Not nearly as impressed with that other U.S. Senator from California, though.

23. Barbara Boxer, light in the darkness
Signed petition, both myself and the husband.
I LOVE Barbara Boxer! I was just reading an article in today's paper, about the relationship between her and Diane Feinstein--that Barbara is known as a liberal and champion of the people, Feinstein is more of an "executive", supported the Iraq war and apparently, even the Social Security overhaul. Even so, how can Feinstein be such an idiot, as to be the one that is "introducing" Condi Rice for her confirmation hearing? They also said there's been some speculation about Condi Rice running for Barbara Boxer's seat in Calif.? Just how popular does Condi think she is (apparently an ego as big as Bush's)? After the two main presidential candidates, Barbara got more votes than any other candidate in the country in this past election.
Barbara has also gotten some recent press for standing up and saying Bush is in bed with the manufacturers of perchlorate, and that he is leaning on government scientists (as usual) to downplay the seriousness of our exposure to it (for an eye-opening treatise on the subject, read Robt. Kennedy Jr.'s, "Crimes Against Nature".) Perchlorate is rocket fuel. It is showing up in the system of every single person in this country being tested for it, and is thought to cause a myriad of health problems.
So folks, what's the consensus.......could Barbara make a successful run at the presidency? I know I'd work my butt off for her.

I proudly signed this...they need to be held accountable for their crimes and lies to each and every one of us. Unfortunately, I moved from CA and no longer habe Boxer as my senator...but I did move to the friendly confines of King County and made my vote count in the WA gov. election!
