My husband saw this sign on a car while in Houston today:
"Screw the ribbons! Show the troops real support: bring them home now! Screw the ribbons!" (I hope i got that right.)

He said the sign was painted on the small car in the same manner as "Just married" signs, etc are painted.

So which DU'er in Houston had this sign on today?

1. Courageous Person
Based on my own numerous trips to Houston (in-laws live there), such a sign would be an invitation to a 30.06 slug coming through the windshield.

I'm REAL careful when I'm in Houston. Talk a lot about the weather.

isnt it houston that goes for the democrat, or a part of it anyway. houston is where the votes were stolen. default to bush and vote a straight dem ticket, would have dems and vote to bush. hard to get to go to kerry

15. Please explain - what is window chalk?
I want to put some new messages on my car and I'm wondering how. Small windows so cardboard inside is not the best solution.

7. My mom couldn't believe those magnets didn't benefit the troops.
Those yellow ribbon magnets. We saw them for sale at the flea market and she said she thought the $$$ for their sales was going to the troops. Sigh.....She was disappointed to learn otherwise and kept mentioning it over Christmas.

9. my neighbor wanted to put a bush sign in her yard
before the election. we live across the street from each other and have been great neighbors and good friends--raising our kids together from before preschool through now (college). however, we have a couple major differences and our party politics is one.

when she said she might put a sign up i said: "please don't do that. you know how much i hate him and i'm the one that's gonna look out my window and see it all the time." so she didn't.

i live in a very very republican county. but i also live in a very blue state--at least that.

14. Orleans
is the parish in which I live.:)

I think that was very kind of your neighbor to respect your wishes. I wish I could thank her myself and invite her for coffee. After a dozen or so friendly chats she'd come to her senses about the Bush administration. Someone just needs to wake her up.

The experiment I undertook over a year ago with two extreme right wing friends has finally paid off. This evening I witnessed what will become the demise of Bush&Co.: His "base" turning against him. The key to opening their eyes was channeling their anger toward the "internationalists/globalists," then associating this construct with Bush&Co.

At some point, Bush will have to divert his attention away from his political opponents and the rest of us, for he will have to deal with his former base... angry, gun-totin' NRA type dudes and/or returning soldiers.

16. Ribbons don't support troops--good policies and honest leaders do
That's my home-made bumpersticker--it's removable so I can tone my car down when I need to. My friend saw one in MA the other day--"The Road to Hell is Paved with Republicans." I wouldn't put that on my car, but I thought it was funny. I might switch rep for Neo-Cons.

17. Story on our local news weeks ago about those ribbons scratching paint..
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 08:59 AM by OneTwentyoNine
I laughed my ass off when they showed how those magnetic ribbons can actually scratch the paint when they move around on the metal.

Bawhahah,I could just picture some IDIOT in his new $40,000 SUV with scratched up paint to show for supporting Bush killing thousands. What goes around comes around.....

19. I saw a site that sells black magnetic ribbons,
with any message or peace-sign that you care to have on the ribbon. But, I live in red country, and my magnetic ribbon would be stolen the first day. Does anyone know where I can find a DECAL black ribbon, that I could stick on the inside of my back windshield?? Thanks.

21. I saw one that said "Support Our Troops Bring 'em Home"
and it was next to one that said "Our Son is Serving in the US Army"

May he come home alive and well. It's my hope for all the troops. We were lied to and we're the ones dying.
