Outlaw abortion, save social security
I'm just the messenger  ...found this in :wow: "People for the American Way" :wow: -
http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=17625

The American Life League releases a full-page ad arguing that by outlawing abortion, the United States could solve the Social Security crisis. The ad reads: “Abortion is a plague. It harms everything it touches. Women, children, families – even institutions like Social Security. Since 1973, over 50,000,000 babies have been killed in the womb. If we had protected their right to life then, Social Security wouldn’t need our protection now. Every year, over $300,000,000 in taxpayer funds is doled out to Planned Parenthood and others who make a living by killing babies. Until that evil is ended, there will never be enough money to protect Social Security from disaster.”

1. Bullshit
Forcing women to be incubators against their will won't solve anything. Reproductive slavery is a bad idea. Stupid laws against abortion only stop the safe abortions. Illegal abortionists fluorish and emergency rooms are left to cope with maimed and dying women.

If you don't have enough workers (which is a silly notion, considering what the unemployment statistics are like right now), then lift some restrictions on immigragion.

Offshoring is a bigger problem. Fewer employed people mean less tax revenue generally and fewer people paying FICA premiums. Corporate greed is a bigger problem. Depressed wages mean lower contributions to both taxes and to FICA premiums.

Fetus fetishists just don't get it and never will.

Antiabortion laws kill women.

4. Reproductive slavery-that is the best description of anti-choice
legislation I have ever heard. Thank you, I plan to use it frequently for the next four years.

2. Some people are just sick to compare these two issues like this
:kick:

It really is just to bad that they point the finger where they should, right at * nut for his lies about everything and his spending our money like it is water instead of caring about our country it is future. They are just sick people.

3. If we'd "protected their right to life"
We'd have paid far more in welfare benefits to support them. "Unable to support the kid" is up toward the top of the list of reasons women chose to get an abortion. They aren't going to save tax money by putting more people on government assistance.

I notice they didn't break down that $300,000,00 into how much actually goes to abortions, versus how much places like Planned Parenthood spend on preventative care like breast cancer screenings, pap smears, and prenatal care for those who decide to raise a family.

Deliberately misleading. They should ask themselves why they don't feel they can make their case by presenting their data in a straight forward way.

8. Deliberately misleading.
Of course, any conservative organization with 'American', 'Fair', 'Truth', or 'Family' in it is misleading by definition. Especially with blanket numbers like the 300 million to PP, who clearly doesn't use it all for abortion.

To them, misleading is 'the American Way'. :argh:

11. Please read post #9.
People for the American Way is a rock-solid liberal organization. The OP was incorrect concerning the context of the posting of the ad on its website.

18. Yep, they are just reporting on the ad's existence
I realized they were reporting on the ad, not "releasing" the ad, from their website. (I was commenting on the ad itself)

I'm sure not everyone will, though - it's not immediately obvious from the site. If I hadn't heard of the organization before and thought it was liberal and had to reconcile that with this ad, I might not have looked long enough to get it.

5. And the other side of the coin...
They would save a lot of money on Social Security if they euthanized those of us who are childless once we reach the age of 60.
After all, we don't have any children who would miss us or any that would take care of us in our declining years.

<Sarcasm>

What the hell do the two have to do with each other? Where do these yo-yos get their numbers, and how do they relate them?

9. Clarifying PFAW Role Here
PFAW is not the producer of the ad, this article shows up in PFAW's "right wing watch."

13. thank god, I thought I'd lost my mind!
PFAW is a great and very left organization, I've given them money for years. I was beginning to think I was missing some liberal argument someplace....

14. Babies, killed in the womb
and women buy it. I suppose they were talking babies too.

The use of the word "killed" implies someone is guilty of murder and that will be the next accusation against women, or their doctor,or the pharmacist, or anyone having anything to do with RU486.

After they have suceeded, (for there is no one really to stop them now), women,at times their own worst enemy, will have handed over the control of their body, which is solely theirs by all legal definition, to the state.

Then they will be happily surrendered and subordinated to the state.

15. They can make that claim, but
unwanted babies will meet their end no matter how hard pro-lifers try. Determined women, facing no other choices, will find a way to do what they think needs to be done. What will really happen is more women will die from unsafe procedures, infanticide will go up, and more abandoned babies will be found either living or dead.

That being said, to reduce a human life to a dollar sign is appalling in a whole other way. To suggest this is also just as evil!

19. Bullcrap.
If all those embryos/fetuses hadn't had been aborted, a heck of a lot more money might have been used to pay for helping them out through welfare, food stamps, medicaid, or if nothing else, putting them in foster homes once the parents can't provide for their kids. We pay for foster care too.

Then of course, more people would be wanting to benefit from social security. I love how these dishonest "pro-life" groups will use something like social security to make a straw man argument.
