Does anyone have the link...
...to Condi and Powell stating pre-9/11 that Saddam was contained? I'm having an arguement with a local freeper-type who still insists that the war was justified. He just trotted out the old, lame list of quotes saying that he did have WMD's. I used the 2001 quotes to great effect before, but lost the link to them.

Anybody?

2. He can't admit that its just wrong...
...to go to war for a non-existant reason :shrug:
More along the line of '* wasn't the only one who thought big bad Saddam had WMD's...'

'Sides he's not my friend, just someone on a local board that I'd love to throttle with the truth.;-)

2001: Powell & Rice Declare Iraq Has No WMD and Is Not a Threat

This clip from John Pilger's documentary, Breaking the Silence, contains 2001 footage of Powell and Rice declaring that Iraq is not a threat.
Thanks for the video go to Information Clearinghouse and A-infos Radio Project

<snip>
We had a good discussion, the Foreign Minister and I and the President and I, had a good discussion about the nature of the sanctions -- the fact that the sanctions exist -- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction. We should constantly be reviewing our policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that they are directed toward that purpose. That purpose is every bit as important now as it was ten years ago when we began it. And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq...
