Brownback on Washington journal
Caller just said he was a bush-hater and boy, oh, boy, talk about a mean, hate-filled stare at the camera by Brownback... Real heart and soul coming through?

on edit: and trying to get an audience with him. He's one of our KKKansas senators.

2. Impossible to meet with.
We were in Washington DC and made an appointment with him (our kids were friends and classmates) and he didn't show there either until it was to late for the tour we had paid for (auction item). We finally went out for a beer with him but he knows how we feel so we did not really "have a meeting". He is always out of the office when anyone tries to meet with him, even if you are scheduled to meet. I have given up. I suppose if you agree with him he would meet with you, don't know, we have never agreed on anything.

3. Exactly
doesn't surprise me at all. I still haven't been able to get an audience with his "highness." Although, I have been allowed to drop off my concerns with his office.

4. As far as I can tell
that is as close as you will ever get. If you actually get a personally thought out response from him I would be surprised. I know these guys are busy and I do not fault them with the form letters they often send out but when someone they represent is concerned enough to try to make appointments they should owe that person at least some time or a personal response. Roberts is the only one who has ever even offered that courtesy to me. It has been apparent for a very long time that our representatives are not at all interested in representing us but in furthering their own agendas and careers. I may be very naive but it seems to me that listening to your opponents would be the very best way to gain some kind of respect if not always support. I have almost given up, almost.

5. Hello, MuseRider! How are you? Happy new year. Brownback is
awful. I spent a month in Germany... came back last night to cold and political frustration. I still cannot believe that we have the retrograd repugs in the majority in everything. The German news about the US and the world paint such a horrific picture of what goes on in the US. One funny skit, though, where they said "and in 2004 President Bush came to Europe to explain his reasons for attacking Iraq." Then they showed him looking to one side, then the other, then up, then down... nary a word from his lips. It was funny... it it weren't so tragic.

7. I have been wondering
where you were! Welcome back I guess. It is not exactly the most pleasant time of the year or the world to be in Kansas. I can only imagine what other countries are thinking about all of this. Happy New Year to you as well and I am glad to see you are back.

8. I've met with Moore.
Which isn't surprising. I've also gotten follow-ups from his office when requested and sometimes they come out of the blue.

I've met with people from Roberts' office, Chad Tenpenny among them (first name that comes to mind). I've gotten the form letters from his office, but I'll be damned if I can remember the last time I got something from Brownback.

I do not mind form letters as responses. So far, they have all been related to the topic I've written the various officals about. I feel like they've at least looked at and tallied it.

I agree. I think listening to an opposing point of view is a good thing. If nothing else it serves as a reality check. I suppose if I became a big time donor or super (hypocritical) religious zealot I could get an audience.

I'm not holding my breathe though.

6. Yep.
I'm originally from Kansas so I pay attention when they come on the screen.

I've not had a good opinion of Brownback, but I think he's worse than I thought he was.

9. I just get embarrassed
when I see them.

If you're not that familiar with him check out http://www.rainbowtel.net/~bryants/abb.htm

Here's a snippet:
What if there really is a vast right-wing conspiracy?

Well, everyone knows there is, not least the conspirators themselves, so let's get past that. In fact there is a vast religious right-wing conspiracy, discussed for convenience under the general term "dominionism." TV preacher Pat Robertson sums up dominionism pretty clearly:

"God's plan is for His people, ladies and gentlemen to take dominion... What is dominion? Well, dominion is Lordship. He wants His people to reign and rule with Him... but He's waiting for us to... extend His dominion... We are not going to stand for those coercive utopians in the Supreme Court and in Washington ruling over us any more. We're not gonna stand for it. We are going to say, 'we want freedom in this country, and we want power...'"

The fact is, Sam Brownback is a member of this "elect" cult and has co-sponsored Senate bill 2082, designed to allow federal, state, and local government officials to overrule all other laws by appealing to the "higher source" of all law ("God") and to forbid the Supreme Court from doing anything about it.

Unbelievable? Here's S. 2082's proposed addition to Sec. 1260 of Title 28, Chapter 81 of the U.S. Code:

"Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the Supreme Court shall not have jurisdiction to review, by appeal, writ of certiorari, or otherwise, any matter to the extent that relief is sought against an element of Federal, State, or local government, or against an officer of Federal, State, or local government (whether or not acting in official personal capacity), by reason of that element's or officer's acknowledgement of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government."
