why did it take Bush 16 minutes to read a 5 minute speech?

I started to read the (full) transcript on Drudge just as Bush started speaking and I finished more than 10 minutes before he did.

every time there was comma, Bush paused as through he had to flip a fuckin' page.

what's the benefit in his taking it so slow? to demonstrate how "deliberate" he is?

1. 200 wpm is fairly rapid for public speaking...

...and very slow reading. Apples and oranges.

This is not to say Junta Boy is an orator, or anything -- if I were an EMT and picked him up I'd say to myself 'Got a stroke patient here' -- but he's not guilty of barrelling through a speech to get it over with. That's a more common offense.

It's like when you meet someone in a hallway and you do that dance where you're both trying to go around each other the same way.

Bush is such an idiot, he can't even practice reading a stupid fucking teleprompter with whoever's running the teleprompter. That's all he had to do. Either that or he was so arrogant he didn't even check the teleprompter before he began. Sometimes they adjust the font so large that there's only like two words on the screen at a time.
