"60 Minutes" about to show footage from embedded reporter w/ Marines
On the ground in Iraq. They just showed a few seconds' worth in the intro, but it looks as if it will offfer a view-from-the-ground of what the troops are up against.

4. You mean they are actually showing reality on the ground?
WOW!

You do understand my sarcasm, don't you?

I may have to actually find my teevee tonight, I think it is in my living room, and actually watch 60 minutes.

6. yes it might be worth it, comes on about 8 after the hour (the segment)
and yes I understand your skepticism completely

they spent a bit of time with the captain of the unit who ended up getting killed

may wake up a few people. Blood is bright red on the street as they pull a wounded Marine out of the road

horrible for our troops

War sucks, but a needless war is criminal

3. Urban guerilla warfare, invisible enemies, anger at foreign occupation...
Remember when we predicted this would be the result of Bush's invasion?

For our trouble, we were derided as "Saddam-lovers."

Assholes. This entire administration needs to be clapped in irons and tried for treason. :grr:

5. 9 out of 160 in the unit are dead, I wouldn't want those odds.
That was a good piece and they actually showed the Hummer exploded by the IED. I was rather surprised that 60minutes would actually show a little negativity on the war. In the piece they actually stated their was not enough troops for the election.

7. It was a good piece. I'm sure the embed has a less than favorable
picture of the war considering that the vehicle in front of them was blown up on camera.

8. A "Tour" Of Ramadi
This is a Sunni suburb of Baghdad we've never had any real control over...and interesting that the Pentagon allowed an American embed in such a dangerous area. This town is slated to be the next Fallujah.

The report was quite good, considering this is American media, and shows how dangerous this is on our troop...but, of course, avoiding showing the casulties we incur on the local population that breeds the resistance.

You can see how terse the commander is in trying to spin the situation...torn between his true feelings and his blind obidience to the military.
