The Kool Aid...a term we got from the Jonestown Cult
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 09:03 AM by franksumatra
We've been using the term a lot here lately, especially in these DU forums. Now even Seymour Hersh is using the term, which refers to the Jim Jones Cultists who willingly, for the most part, drank Kool Aid they knew was laced with cyanide.

The Kool Aid. It used to be a mostly harmless soft drink concoction for kiddies, now the brand name has more sinister meanings. A tasty brew with added sugar to make the bad poison go down easier. One who 'drinks the Kool Aid' is one who will lay down his very life for a lost cause, not out of logic or devotion, but out of a cultist need to please the cult leader. The cult leader, be he Jim Jones or George W. Bush, must be obeyed even until the Kool Aid is passed around.

Drink it in, in great drafts with gusto, drink the whole cup, and make sure your kids drink theirs too. That's what the neo cons have done, only their Kool Aid is plain ol' Kool Aid. The devotees have Kool Aid spiked with Lies, Nationalism, and some sort of hallucinogenic mushroom apparently. Maybe it's 'Bushroom Kool Aid'.

3. If not the Koolaid
There is something in the water. There needs to be a reason why so many apparently stable people will support any and everything BFEE does. No questions ever, just blind loyalty. My goodness, I even question some of Clintons moves but still liked him as president.
B*shbots are not even fun to talk to, ya can't reach em.
