FR posters excited about Iran invasion
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1322216/posts

"Iran is almost as bad as Iraq, I say a clean nuclear strike against the barbarian regime using what we know from Iraq to make the post war occupation much easier. Keep the military in place and declare martial law until democratic elections."

"Well, I certainly hope so. Ignorance is NOT bliss when it comes to enemies. I hope the US has reconnaisance teams inside the mullah's tea parties, inside their weapons-filled "mosques," and inside their heads."

"Personally, I hope this twit is right."

1. Ignorance may not be bliss, but apparently for a Republican president,
it's enough to justify a pre-emptive strike.

suggested he enlist, and he explained he was too old, which is probably true... I suggested he sign up with these guys, they are looking for folks to do "threat protection" in Iraq

9. Haven't these guys either enlisted or applied for Haliburton jobs
driving trucks?

Sheesh, you mean they're still sitting on their fat asses here in the good old USA glorying in the death of others?

These idiots don't realize firing off nukes anywhere in the world is going to affect them, directly.

I believe the term is CHICKEN-HAWK.

14. Like This Guy
"For One Contractor, A Road Too Hard"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14325-2005Jan16.html

It is never stated where his politics fall, but from the statements made in the article I think you can make a good guess.

I feel sorry for him and his family. But I think this article illustrates my belief that the uninformed and the kool-aid drinkers will suffer the most under our new Fascism. Those who see through the propaganda will be in a better position to survive.

10. This frightens me
Don't they realize that Iran has nuclear weapons too, as well as powerful allies? That a preemptive strike would not rule out a counter strike? And who are the barbarians they speak of? I only see barbarians(and idiots) on their board.

Warmongering is so easy from the safety of their own home, sitting in front of a computer. They really, really need to enlist and see the action, up close and personal.

16. I agree. These are the guys who
run around wearing cammo over their beer guts, talk like they're ex-service, go to gun shows so they can hang-out with other freepers repeating rove talking-points to each other.

The closest any of them will be to military is when the apply for the security guard job at Wal-Mart.

15. In A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, Alex was presented as --
-- unduly excited (not to put too fine a point on it) while watching violent imagery.

Not much difference between that and the freepers salivating over another pre-emptive strike in Iran.

That seems to be the game in which we're engaging.

As for the liberals/progressives in each respective country, we just want to have peace. But that doesn't sell tickets to an inagauration, now does it?

24. Exactly. Everybody remember, when you talk with these
guys in person (if you have to) and ask if they support the war etc. and they say "hell yes...".

Ask them why they're not over there, if they're so pro-war.

And there are no excuses. If they're too old to go into the regular service (although that seems to be no big deal anymore) they can work for Halliburton or one of the other contractors.

At the end of the conversation, you can say, "So your all for war as long as other people and other people's kids have to go fight it."

26. My favorite quote
"Those slugbaits are right -- in one respect, this is very much like Vietnam. The drumbeat of opposition from the press corps has been incessant -- and now this."
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1322216/posts?q=1&&page=51

Has this idiot been on Mars for the last 3 years?
"Drumbeat of opposition" to war in Iraq? Or even if Joe Bob is thinking about Iran, "drumbeat"?

That place is often worth a visit: hilariously stupid and deluded, they are.

Yes! Let's invade Iran! I mean, really, the War in Iraq is going soooo well! :eyes: These people are morans! Iran is MUCH better prepared and another ILLEGAL war waged by the US would lose us the rest of our allies....even Poland! We lose all standing in the world. I can see embargoes placed on the US right and left. We will cut off and strangled by our own government's blood-lust and greed for oil!

41. Not Even the Deluded Deserve to Die
A unique characteristic of FreeRepublic types is their seemingly bottomless thirst for violence for the sake of violence; destruction for the sake of destruction. Rare few justifications for engagement in war would ever hold up to honest scrutiny, and any professsor of junior-college ethics will tell you that war is more a method of population control than it is of maintaining the peace.

Sadly, embrace of such warlust is hardly ever acknowledged for the counter-intuitive, counterproductive mental state that it truly is. Rather, violence in the name of such irrational emotions is often packaged in thin cellophane and sold as retribution for a crime against humanity, or a pre-emptive strike against any number of nations with any capacity to flout America's rule as the world's unchallenged moral disciplinarian.

The cry of the left seems rather simple in this case: "If they want war, they should supply their own bodies." In a truly rational world, such reason would resonate - it would hardly be challenged, and those who would deign to challenge it would be mocked for their lack of basic understanding of cause and effect.

Unfortunately, we live in a country whose deregulated media has allowed it to become polluted by professional rhetoricians and a leadership culture which champions politics over ethical integrity.

We are facing throngs of fellow Americans who - although you may be cordial with them when you pass them in the hallway - truly believe that America has earned the right to kill, destroy, maim, torture, lie, rig and steal in order to further American values abroad.

That is truly the problem. These people have been deceived into embracing their hatred and bigotry towards others.
