You ready for this:Bush Debuts New Cadillac Limo For Inauguration
DETROIT -- Being president has it perks -- you get the coolest rides, for one.

Not only does President George W. Bush get to travel in Air Force One, on the ground he'll be riding in the new Cadillac. The rest of us will get a sneak peak at the 2006 Cadillac DTS limousine Thursday.

The new presidential limousine will debut in the inaugural parade.

The president's hand-crafted limo is longer, wider and taller than the production model. But General Motors officials say it takes its styling cues from the coming mass-produced Caddie.

Of course, presidential security and communications equipment won't be options on the versions in showrooms next year.

God...I think I have just about had enough of the Shrub and his money grubbing ways. This guy is pure evil!!! Check out the link for a picture of the "new car!"

:grr:  :argh:

12. No, they will play, "God Save the King"
or worse - modified hymns like:

"All Hail the Power (of Dubya's Name)"

"A Mighty Fortress is our Pres"

But what they should REALLY play is the:

"Imperial March" (aka Darth Vader's Theme).

You know that's what they're thinking. The troops could march in lockstep with that music, and it would really accent the jingoistic saber-rattling theme.

Does anyone know if they will have tanks and missiles in the parade too, just like real totalitarian military dictators have in their parades?

no one on this list has noticed, but GM is about to be down graded to junk. When that happens it could well be a death spiral into bankruptcy.

4. Really...I thought he'd use either a Hummer limo or one of
grossest things I've ever seen going down the highway, a Ford Excursion limo! The more gasoline he can burn, the better he will feel about himself.

14. Everything about this fraudulent inauguration is tasteless
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 02:51 PM by higher class
It's authenticity.
It's hypocrisy.
It's excesses
(Especially in the face of no roof, not enough food, and no insurance)

Including donor tickets that pay for incredible hotel and ball excesses. (Reported on Sunday Morning). Retchingly tasteless.

Some mothers and fathers are receiving the bodies of their children Thursday. Mothers and fathers of crippled children are trying to figure out where to get money to see their child in some hospital far from home. Some little kids will be the future have-nothings (especially in the face of niggardly DOD policies against their damaged or dead soldiers.)

The press must snap some posed photos of the emporer in his special car, so that the good and right people of this country will be somewhat uplifted over their choice. Meanwhile, for those of who hate GWB, we will rejoice in the truth of those pictures.

32. Of all the things to criticize Smirk over, this ain't one of 'em.
There are plenty of things to criticize the Boy King over. But every US president has a bulletproof limo, including every Democratic president.

I do think this one is butt-ugly. But it's just a fucking car. At least it's not a Mercedes.

And I'm certainly not saying that virtually everything else about this coronation is not wretched excess, rubbing our noses in it, etc., but I don't begrudge the bastard a frickin' bulletproof car. Dems just look stupid when we bitch about EVERY damn thing. We'll see if it's EGG-proof, if the media covers it.

33. I don't begrudge him a bulett proof car. I just ask what the old
limo was. I seem to remember it was a Lincoln, but I can't say that I pay much attention to his cars. Last I saw on the campaign trail, everything was a big SUV.

If his old limo was 2 or more years old, fine, give him a new one. What are we talking here, $100,000? I don't care.

Good for GM to get the contract for the car.

I detest this man, and as much as i ask myself why, I really don't know. I can't watch him on TV and tune out everything about him. I just think it's very sad for the Country that our leader has to spend the most $$ in history to protect his sorry ass. Must be disturbing when so many people hate you.

35. Current Presidential limo is a Cadillac,
that began service in January 2001.

Presidential limousine, Inaugural Day 2001.

Suburbans (black SUVs) are used by Secret Service and support personnel. One Suburban in the motorcade is the command post and communications vehicle.

Presidential motorcade. Note the Suburban with antennae behind and to the right of the presidential limousine.

37. Ummm....Clinton ordered the current limo,
and it entered service on Inaugural Day 2001.

Then again, the Clinton library looks like a trailer house on stilts, so taste must be something in short supply these days.

38. What happened to everyone making sacrifices during war?
As much money as this war has cost, added to the lost revenue from his insane tax cuts for the wealthy, now is the time to tighten the purse strings regarding unnecessary expenses. I just don't understand why he's being so opulent about this inauguration. What was wrong with the OLD limo? Why rub it in people's faces?
