Bush to speak at ~ 4PM on Dr. King

Yes you heard that right George Walker Bush with offer his observations on Doctor Martin Luther King Junior in about 30 minutes.

Judy Woodruff didn't mention when the guy at the Wendy's drive thru would offer his reflections on Thomas Jefferson though.

nor will I read any transcript. The man has some big hairy balls to be speaking of MLK Jr. He was one million times the human being bush could ever hope to be.

4. Here's my speech for MLK today.

My Fellow Americans;

Dr King said in his most famous of speeches, "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today."

Some people decry the Civil Rights movement as an attack on their civil rights. As if equal rights meant "special rights" for whites and any attempt at "equalizing" this was an attack on them. To them I say, How wrong you are. There are those in power that depend on continuation of "us versus them" mentality. In fact those in power today have opened up many more lines of "us versus them" by weaving in lies about taxes, lies about responsibility, lies about sexuality, lies about war and many other. Through this they have convinced you to vote against your own best interest. In return you get the comfort of knowing they are at least paying lip-service to restoring "your" kind to the imbalance of rights that you hold as "equitable".

Shame upon you for that. It is the most un-American activity short of treason. For Dr. King's true message as he said was; "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.'" So you see his struggle, his message was not one of usurping your rights, or the rights of anyone, to supplant his own, it was a message to ALL that 56 men signed that Declaration of Independence proclaiming such an esteemed ideal of the human spirit. They signed it with all the knowledge afore-hand that they could be put to death if caught, that they certainly did NOT live in such a time, but held out hope that someday others could attain true equality.

Sadly, when you look to today's administration and seek to judge them by the content of their character their response is to whip up fears through power gained by the color of their skin and demonizing the "color" of others.

I too, have a dream.

7. colin powell recieved the MLK award today at the Kennedy Center

for the person that most embodies Dr. Kings' moral values and leadership, and for the best role model for young Blacks....:puke:


and bush* was there too...gave a 'little' crappy speech...


WHY ARE BLACK AMERICANS admiring colin powell??? Someone explain this madness to me, because I'll NEVER understand it....

10. the kennedy center doesn't represent black americans

and there is your answer. i don't think it was black americans who were pushing for powell as a democratic candidate either. other than that, he has a safe position on affirmative action given that his former boss and current party are against it, and he has lent his support and efforts to mentoring programs, among other things.

He couldn't take Condi with him-not only would it be seen as more egregious than taking Colin up there but Condi's father ( a minister) opposed Dr.King and the Civil Rights movement. Did you think it was any accident that Condi is where she is in the circle of the Republican party and their friends?
