Computer users with Macromedia Flash installed, BEWARE
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 04:21 PM by kgfnally

This popped up when I went to the "options" or "settings"menu by right-clicking on the media window.

:wtf:

on edit: you'll want to set it to what the screenshot shows.

Why would Macromedia ask for access to your camera and mic?

2. It's been there since Flash 6...
Very few websites actually use it... it is basically for videoconferencing in a Flash application or similar things.

4. What if you have it set to "yes"... but don't know it?
Can a webpage with Flash on it see you and hear you?

Just how does this work, anyway?

5. It's set to no on default...
so, unless someone changed the settings without you knowing, it is unlikely to be enabled.

It works with ActionScript, Flash's programming language... for example someone could make a Flash where the webcam takes a picture and includes it on the fly in an animation.

It is highly unlikely that video and audio of you can be recorded and accessed by someone else though... it is probably possible to do it but it would require not only a Coldfusion server (that is not that common), but lots of free space to save videos, and of course, to have the webcam access enabled.
