63 for bush
400+ Kerry...

You think that if this reflects the trend nationally they will release it?

On edit, people I knew in the service were overwhelmengly for Kerry, my husband retired from the Navy a year ago

3. Military? What military?
No. No one has seen neither hide nor hair (hare?) of the military vote.

4. We all suspect....
That they voted in favor of Kerry, since every other demographic has been widely discussed in the MSM, but they haven't touched this one. If Bush had gotten the military vote, the MSM, especially Faux Snooze, would have been screaming it from he rafters the moment the stats came in, and we'd still be hearing about it to this day.

Interestingly, the final tally on this demographic has never been released. Many of us on DU, as well as myself, and two reporter friends of mine have all tried unsuccessfully for over two months now to get that info, to no avail. We have even contacted several news outlets and inquired about it, only to be told by all of them, "That hasn't been determined yet."

Really? They say the votes have all been counted, but that "hasn't been determined yet?"

Me thinks they know darn well how the military voted, but don't care to broadcast it.

Hmmmmm...wonder why.

5. I saw this for one New Jersey county last week
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=203&topic_id=283867

The military went for Kerry by a HUGE margin. WHY do we send our young people to kill and die for us, yet we can't be bothered to count their votes? This American government sickens me.

6. see this thread on New Jersey
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 06:42 PM by imenja
The thread's author, I believe, is working on compiling military vote tallies from around the country. I don't think the numbers he posts for NJ are that conclusive since they list "federal overseas ballots" without specifying whether or not they are military. Still, it's definitely worth reading his results.

7. I spent the last week with my friend who is still in
I think we are really overestimating how many voted for Kerry. She openly thinks that * has royally screwed up Iraq and even called it the "next Vietnam." But in the end she voted for the idiot b/c "he's good for business and he's given us good raises." This is an officer w/ an econ degree. If she has been blinded by the propaganda you can only imagine what the typical soldier is getting.

9. Statistically officers and higher enlisted
tend to vote republican regardless... by the way my husband left the service a year ago... most of his boat was gonna vote democratic, across the board.

As to raises... well in war there are these promotions since you have to fill up the ranks... this is how raises work in the military...

13. It's amazing how people can be so shortsighted
a 3% raise - big deal. Meanwhile, everything else is being cut. I'm still surprised at how many of my old shipmates would vote for *.

This same friend said she was interested in seeing F/911, but wouldn't b/c of what MM said at the awards show. Of course, she couldn't even remember what he said.

10. No way to count military votes!
We have had this discussion on several different threads. Votes are still secret. There is no way to tell how the military voted.

15. Yes
township clerk in my hometown said that when the military ballots came in, the envelope was checked to assure that it was a registered voter. The ballot was then removed and placed in the same hopper as all of the other absentee ballots for counting. You could probably get an accurate count nationwide of how absentees voted, but would have a hard time breaking that out between elderly stay-at-homes, folks on travel, overseas expatriates, and military.
