Is this the worst luck ever?
On the way to hear Greg Palast speak tonight, my new car got crunched by a truck tire falling from the sky. Well, actually from a section of freeway above the portion we were on. It smashed the hood, split open the radiator, caused the engine to start smoking, ripped off the bumper, then bounced on to smash up 3 other vehicles. The front end of my car is nothing but twisted, smoking metal.

Plus I've got a royal headache!

Why the **** didn't we drive our old klunker tonight?

7. Haha! No need for Depends. But I did get hurt, a bit.
Neckache and headache, probably whiplash. I'll call my doctor in the morning and go see the chiro.

But hey, if that tire had hit my roof instead of my hood, I'd be a pancake.

6. Yeah...as this huge thing was falling toward me I envisioned
the DU headline...Another liberal journalist wiped out in mysterious accident.

A few inches farther back, and my kids would be orphans.

I just hope they can fix the car. If the insurance totals it, I'm stuck paying the balance on the loan, but with the depreciation, I wouldn't be able to get another car that's this new.

Only good thing...the cops found the trucker missing a tire. I just hope he's got insurance.

10. Get insurance company to sue trucking company, and don't let them
get you to settle for less than real replacement value on your car - not what the car is worth, but how much it will take to get you back to "zero".

I hope you have full coverage, because auto insurance companies are far more likely to assist you if you have full coverage.

I'm REALLY glad you're not hurt, other than sore. Good luck with the soft tissue damage.

13. Luckily I do have good coverage, including $0 deductible
on comprehensive. I added that after having my car windshield broken several times recently by gravel trucks around here. Definitely a smart move.

I hope the truck driver has insurance. If not, we'll have to find out what tire place or mechanic put the tire on his vehicle, since someone obviously screwed up big time. At least one car was damaged worse than ours, because it swerved and hit the center divider on the freweay.

Well, this should be good for lots of free massages to relieve my stress, at least.

12. This wasn't my first close call.
I've survived a couple of bad car accidents and once narrowly missed being on board the PSA plane that crashed over San Diego.

Whatever higher power there is must be keeping me around for a reason, though I haven't quite figure out yet what that might be.

14. Well, your experiences will keep you on your toes...
...even though your car was "tired" (and likely retired {although it's not likely to get any new rubber})
