Poll question: Predict when the US goes to war with Iran
I am still open to the argument that Syria may be next on the neo-con hit list, but right now Iran appears to be the front runner.

1. I think it will be...
... after September, 2005, possibly early 2006, but they will try to limit it to aerial bombardment only, for some strategically obvious reasons, the primary one being that Iran has, between regulars, national guard and irregulars, about 900,000 troops, far more than the US could put on the ground.

2. Most likely in the summer before the mid-term elections.
Assuming Bush and the GOP will try to exploit war fever for political purposes.

3. October - remember those October suprises Bush is famous for.
Either this year. Or maybe even 2006 election year.

5. my bet is that it will be the new 'product' they roll out this fall

and then the actual illegal invasion would start in early 2006.

Remember that it takes several months for them to sufficiently confuse the sheeple into thinking there is a pressing danger that warrants a 'pre-emptive' war. :eyes: :grr:

6. 1956, 1980... already been there
It seems they're generously trying to plant the story all over DU
so that the public mind starts to get used to the idea.

10. Wasn't it 1953 when the CIA installed the Shah??
I'd have to look again but I think thats when it happened. Newly formed CIA coming out of the ashes of WWII needed something to do,overthrow some country but which?? Well, there sits Iran....

8. I still don't see Bush getting the support to pull this off
Even Tony Blair has already said it is out of the question, so it would be a coalition of one.
And after the WMD fiasco, Bush trying to use that excuse again would be treading on awful thin ground.

And I don't hear any Republicans talking about an Iran war, at least not yet. I don't see Bush getting any support, let alone enough to try and foster another war.

America simply can't afford it.

12. Our idea of support and his idea of support are 2 different things
and B*sh has never let those little technicalities stand in his way. It's not like we're dealing with a rational man here. If we were, I wouldn't be so scared, because obviously we have our hands quite full with that other war he started. No, this idiot thinks the election proved that we agree with his warmonger policies.

I really wish he'd stick to clearing brush. It's clearly the only thing he's qualified to do.

:scared:
