No offense to my DU family, but Sen. Biden should go pound sand |
|
However, Biden also had blunt advice for European critics: "I have one simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our president for the next four years. So get over it and start to act in your interest, Europe."

Sort of encouraging, IMO.

That you are correct. Trouble is, sarcasm, unless well-crafted, does not transfer very well to the printed word.

10. If it was sarcasm, it didn't translate, it DID come across.... |
|
as arrogant, isolationist and bullying. If Biden was sending a message to bush it ricocheted in a very negative way and was the antithesis of 'diplomacy'.

7. Biden, IMHO, is a stellar example... |
|
... of some of the reality behind Nader's critique of the two parties being increasingly indistinguishable from one another.
I don't agree that they are identical, by any means. However, there are numerous areas in which the distinctions diminish, almost to the point of disappearing. Slavish devotion to corporate interests is one. Foreign policy is the other.
Whether he realizes it or not, Biden is only serving to drive the wedge deeper between the US and EU with such talk. The EU knows that it is in the economic position to start taking a global lead. Comments like Biden's only betray the unease that many of the members of the "establishment" have regarding this diminishing US global power.

And NO - in alpha characters - it doesn't go over. I'll have to hear it to judge. Knowing his background, I would assume it was a put-down of Europe.

I've always known he couldn't be trusted. That's the EXACT statement that the repugs used about the election theft. "GET OVER IT"!!! I bet they're loving him today. Why did he have to chose that phrase? If he's being sarcastic, how can he assume that most people will see it that way? UNREAL

you seem to think the quote speaks for itself, but it doesn't, especially without any context whatsoever.
To me, this quote doesn't mean very much (like much of what Biden says -- and he says a LOT).

|
..at least according to Yahoo...As he told Rice that time for diplomacy is long overdue (and I cheered), he followed it up with a warning to Europe....what part of that sentence, did he think was diplomacy?

I think it's self explanatory. Why did he even have to say that to our international friends? Insulting. They don't have to get over it, anymore than we should. It's a dimissal of our concerns. I'm through with making excuses for the dems. I'll only forgive them if they can prove death threats against them, or some kind of blackmail. Otherwise, there's NO EXCUSE for this!

15. Putting quotes in context and providing a source |

is the least you can do, especially when you think the quote is meaningful.
I refuse to make any sort of judgement on an out of context quote, I would hope others would do the same.

19. it was during the hearings of the neoCON Condi Rice letting her know |
|
that we need better diplomacy
biden is a loudmouth grandstander who is on-board like the rest of our leaders with America's plan to democratize the region at the point of a bayonet just like the imperial Japanese with their Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity plan during WWII.
we even hung a civilian for his role in gov. Hirota Koki during that awful period of history.
i hope these leaders remember that history has a very long memory.
we need to clean house starting with those at the TOP.

21. I listened to him filibustering for precious minutes. Stalling for |

air time, while he should have been asking Rice the hard questions she deserved. He was intentionally shielding her. The longer he talked, the less time was left for real questions. He's a slimy one and he's not our advocate.
