Pardon me if this has been asked before; I haven't been on the board much lately.

Do you think * has any idea his people in connection with Diebold, et al, stole this election for him? After all, we know he's incredibly insulated from things he doesn't want to hear. We alos know that he's not the one who's really in charge, either of the country, or even of the White House.

So, the question is, does he really BELIEVE the people put him back in office, as he seems to? Is he that incredibly fucking stupid? Or is he simply a much better actor than we believeand knows his appartus did their all to re-select him?

1. I don't think he gives a shit.
He probably believes that he not just won it, but that he's ENTITLED to it. Ordained by gawd, and all that.

3. I think he does!
But I think he isn't asking for the details. He's a coward, who needs fantasy to hide in.

7. I think he's the only one who didn't know the fix was in.
Why? Because his intellectual superiors were worried he'd blurt it out in one of his press love-ins.

10. Not for a moment.
He's a thief and he knows it, but that's not the way he frames it in his mind I bet. He's won because his army is stronger and stealthier and better connected. That's how you win. That's the way the world is.

Calling it theft is an idle moral pass-time for commoners who are non-combatants in the struggle for worldwide dominion.

so maybe he does believe it, at long as he doesn't think about it too much.

13. I think he believes he won.
I think he is seriously mentally ill and that Rove and Co kept the fraud from him so as not to shatter his tenuous grip on reality. If he ever discovers that he didn't really win he will become even more of a blathering idiot than he is now.

And yes...he is that incredibly fucking stupid.

15. I'd say he knows he did not win by vote count and doesn't care
but he absolutely believes he's entitled and doesn't give a damn what was done to get him in. Actually he PREFERS to rub opponents' faces in his ability to beat them by any means fair or foul. He's vicious, malicious and petty. So I'd say he got a real kick out of the whole thing and absolutely knows it was stolen this time as well as last time. In his mind, it would demonstrate his absolute control and the satisfying powerlessness of any opposition.

17. Of course not
He knows that his election people "fixed" it for him, but it does
not bother him, as he genuinely believes he's god's choice.

We're in the post-democracy phase of the imperial hubris these days.
Citizens are too dangerous to have them voting... or counting those
votes.

19. counting votes is for "the reality-based community"
Even if Bush wasn't one of the original PNAC crowd, he is weak-willed and shallow enough to have been swayed by them. He's in a bubble, created by his advisors and courtiers -- and he doesn't even want to peek outside of it. They've had more than 3 years to work on him, building up his belief that he was "chosen" for something special, i.e. to lead the country in wartime. He's always been in denial about having had an easy time of things thanks to his family's status. I suppose it hurts too much to contemplate the thought that you aren't as charming and adept as you thought you were, and that any success you've had is due to something else! He craves certainty and it's far more attractive for him, to think that "God put me in the White House because there was a time of crisis ahead" than "I got in on a questionable court ruling and the other guy had just as much, even more right to be here".

If he does believe that his side cheated, I suspect that he doesn't view it as "cheating" at all! He may think of it as a fair way to counter the Democrats -- believing, of course, that the Dems control the media and entertainment industries, and the liberal intellectuals are brainwashing the college kids, and the rich coastal elites are beating up on the poor honest Republicans -- so a little tinkering to make things "come out right" is in the nation's best interest.

He does seem to believe that "the people" really want him -- he can be very effusive and grateful when "ordinary citizens" approach him and say they're praying for him. There are numerous examples online, of where he will actually turn around and come back to someone who says this, and spend quite a long time talking! Never mind that those citizens have been carefully pre-screened by Rove. Of course, he doesn't want to know that.

So, I don't think he's so much stupid as being in denial. He's not a convincing actor, and I'd be surprised if he knew everything his colleagues were up to (much less being some kind of mastermind).
