Rant - Opportunity, responsibility, broader, free, democratic and nation
Other have critiqued the entire speech. This line has me incandescant with rage.

"Members of the United Nations now have an opportunity, and the responsibility, to assume a broader role in assuring that Iraq becomes a free and democratic nation. "

How many lies can one man cram into one sentence?

Opportunity? Well how grand of you Mr Bush. The U.N now has the opportunity to pick up the pieces of the mess that you decided to create. Rememeber how irrelevant the U.N was? Remember "freedom fries"? Remember weapons inspectors. This "opporunity" is loathesome and I hope the U.N. polititely declines to agree on the terms presented.

Responsibility? Get fucked. The U.N are about as responsible for ensuring Iraqi democracy as the Pope is for marketing condoms. Mr Bush, you decided that democracy was the natural way forward for a ethnically divided nation which in the main has no great sympathy with the U.S. Since you are so clever you make it work.

Broader? Broader than what. Oh I get ya! Broader than anything that will not cost you any money. So we get a piece of the pie? A seat at the table? A slot at the trough? How many of our sons do you want for this honour?

Free? Free is not "by appointment" Mr Bush. You should know that. "Free" elections in your own country failed to elect you.

"Democractic" Hmm I don't think Mr Bush is qualified to lecture anyone on democracy is he?

Nation? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Al you need to do is get the shiites, the sunnis and the kurds to love each other and you'll have no problems.

What an arsehole.

1. Right On!
Now we need to get this message out to the uninformed and uncommitted. The more of us who get the message into our local news papers, TV editorials ect, the better.

I liked your analysis that he packed so many lies into one sentence! Good line. Keep it going!

2. Great post
Love your words and ideas. And additionally, these are the jerks who hate the UN and wanted it to fold. And, when Shrub says "democracy" he really means "capitalism" which to him means looting the public coffers for his rich corporate friends.

3. Hear hear.
As an American it is my responsibility to take up the slack and say how very sorry I am for my nations bad behavior.
Now for all you Freeper's out there. DON'T dig to deep into this, it is because I love my country so much that I must point out the things that we are doing out of spite, arrogance, ignorance, and greed. I say ,we, as it is important to take accountability for the actions of others I call countrymen. If I am to be an American, then that means I must accept it all. Rejoice in that which is good, accept those things that are bad, and in the acceptance, fight to see it never happen again. This nation prides it's self on it's integrity, it's honor. If we Americans are to believe ourselves honorable people, than we must act it. We are part of a greater whole. One nation out of many, and just as the people of a city may not agree on all things, so go the way's of nations. It is my hope that this nation that prides itsself as "The Melting Pot" has not abandoned that belief, that we have not given up a once great dream.

5. Great post!
Clean it up and send it to your local paper as an LTTE. We should all take bits and pieces of this speech and rip it up in letters. Plan on working on mine today...
