Republican Websites Hacked in Protest of Inaugurations
http://boston.indymedia.org/newswire/display/32998/index.php

NOT MY PRESIDENT, NOT MY WAR! THIS WHOLE SYSTEM IS ROTTEN TO THE CORE!

In solidarity with the billions around the world who are being oppressed under the Bush agenda, The Internet Liberation Front has hacked and defaced six Republican websites who push forward the sick and violent ideology of warfare, capitalism, and profit over people.

(snip)
We will not be their slaves and let them get away with murder. Activists and hackers alike are rising up to resist the Bush administration using street protest, sabatage, and hacktivism. You won't hear about it on their televisions cause the revolution is in the streets!

The massive counter-inauguration protests in DC is only the beginning. Expect four more years of resistance to the U.S. war machine. Hacktivists of the world, unite!

follow the link to their mirror, and click the links to the various pages they hacked.

BWAAA! Though this could be seen as denial of service. Still, bravo on them for showing some cajones.

12. Pretty stupid..
Committing a felony to "protest". Showing off??

I remember reading in the times their server were seized after they posted hacked RNC info.

Carry a sign, streak, do something that will not put you in federal prison. Getting arrested for civil disobedience is a little different from damaging government machines. Protesting is a great thing.

How comprimising a server makes a protest is over my head.

I agree committing a crime is pretty stupid. If you want the Republicans to win that's how you do it. Martin Luther King had the right idea.

That's right, Kiddies, get used to it. Get used to cute blue cats who follow your every move. I wonder... does Crypto Cat stand for cryptofascist catastrophe?

growing-up during the 60's anti-war movement was on thing, but today with so much high-tech usage like the internet it does make sense.

Progress and different times. Boy, my liberalism is coming out now. Part of me wants to rally them on, while the other side believes it's wrong in that we certainly wouldn't want it done to us.

33. Thats true... under the Patriot Act any
hacking activity could be considered an act of terrorism. For all you people who think this was "immature" or criminal you need to understand the hacker a little better. You see way back when, the computer was the domain of the guy the jocks used to beat up in school. It was his private little world where he could be as good at something as the star quarterback was at football. Better even. These guys started setting up BBS's where they could communicate and share information freely with others like them. To them hacking was not stealing or malicious vandalism, it was throwing the touchdown pass in the last seconds of the big game. It took skills, brains, and some serious balls. The best ever, mentioned previously in this thread, one Kevin Mitnick took hacking to the limits and hacked the FBI, only to discover the Carnivore program(look it up) and ended up on the 10 most wanted list. Since the advent of Windows (Computing For Dummies) and the Internet (BBS's for Dummies) the hacker has seen his dream of total free information for everyone starting to take shape. Information is power. Du'ers of all people should know this. The problem is that most people have yet to find the places for factual information. Hackers have been trying to free up information since before most of you knew what to do with a computer. They will continue, as they did in the past, fighting the forces that seek to keep the facts under lock and key. If that means hacking a few right wing websites for kicks than so be it.

He writes some hilarious and very truthful books, like "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" (If I'm wrong correct me-) And did the skits on SNL as Stuart Smalley (I know I had to of spelled that wrong)

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darnit, people like me!"

He is now on Air America Radio. Hilarious dude.

50. www.alfrankenweb.com still down from hackers
It is one thing to add some funny satirical protest messages on someone's site. It is another to hack the site to the point it cannot function.

Hacking is not as funny when it happens to a liberal site. For example, the message board of www.alfrankenweb.com has been down for 2 days because of hackers.

(That is a pretty good message board by the way. It is much more manageable in size than DU.)
