DU? Are you CONTROLLED?
It doesn't matter if you were raised on Reagan or JFK, with all DU respect, I ask:

Do you live your life FREE to think and say and do as you please?

Or:

Does your work situation require you to keep your thoughts and words, as well as your actions, to yourself?

Does your home life require censorship? Does your social life call for silence, at times? But, most of all, I ask about your professional life.

My case in point is the Democratic Party, as represented by our Senate and Congress.

It seems to me most of they are controlled in what they say. Note how Barbara Boxer's questioning of Condescenda Right caused euphoria among all who were awaiting some sign from the rest of the elected DEMs -- confirmation that, yes!, they are, in fact, vertebrates.

Few dare say: "There's something rotten in the White House. And that is George W Bush. The guy lied to us before 9-11 happened. The guy lied to us during 9-11. The guy lied to us after 9-11.

So, how come so few in Congress bring this up?

Perhaps the men and women in Congress know the consequences. Sen. Wellstone would've had a lot to say about the piratization of Social Security, let alone the Iraq invasion, eh? JFK Junior never did get to launch that political career of his.

Say! Are you free to do so in your own life?

1. Many Americans think they are free to
say what they want on their jobs.

They are not.

4. "a poor man is everyone's slave'.. he cannot afford to offend anyone at
all, since he is desperate for each thing he gets by purchase or gift. from landlords, stores, boss, etc.

Poverty means this is not the Free World

Poverty ends freedom

5. You got that right. On paper...
... we have the right to be able to think and say what we want. Yet, almost everyone who works for a corporation would lose their jobs for saying certain things out loud.

I worked for a medical company a ways back, helping them market to doctors and nurses and so on... The local boss was the PhD daughter of a reportedly ultra-conservative fundamentalist preacher.

She knew I was a "libral" and quikcly learned to kept her mouth shut about politics around me, but one day at a birthday office get-together she started ripping Clinton a new one over the stained dress.

One by one, her sycophants on the staff chimed in and let rip that Clinton was morally unfit and so forth. This went on till my turn.

I reminded her, in front of most of our office, that even St. Ronnie and Nancy were big with child when they got married. Then I threw in how Pat Robertson knocked up Miss Whatever before marriage. And I noted how so many of the people chewing out Clinton were divorcees who cheated on their spouses.

The boss looked down, steaming. That really must've got to her. No one else said a word. She didn't take it lightly and never spoke to me again. The next day I got canned.

PS: In writing and reading this I just realized -- maybe that's what happened to her, too.

9. Keep spreading the vibe, seabeyond!
Those who know you and show signs of anger or fear are afraid. They know, deep in their hearts, that you are correct. When the Truth is known, they will be even angrier at themselves for allowing themselves to be bamboozled by the Bush Gang.

That's where the love comes in. They'll recognize where they've been seeing it all along.

6. I am a feral. I have little to no concern about the thoughts of others.
I know that which I know. I look into eyes and (almost) ignore words. I have a Stanford MBA hubby who is sliding rapidly to the left. We have our issues, but they are resolved through TRUTH. He now sends me stories dealing with the fraudulent chimp.

I care naught what others say - but I do care what they do. I am in no way repressed from proclaiming my beliefs, or the truths behind them.

PS - Barbara Boxer is my Senator... and I Love HER !!!!

15. COOL! And I don't really have a problem with you running free
in the house. I do wish you wouldn't relieve yourself in the corners behind the drawers in the dresser.
And I keep trying to tell the ignorant that you aren't related to rats. In fact, i keep telling them you hunt rats.
So what if I don't give you a three-tier cage with a little tunnel to hide in and a little wheel to keep you occupied.
You're FAMILY.
To hell with what they smell. I can't smell anything.

17. I like the 'tude.
Maybe I've read too much from Tuesday Lobsang Rampa:

Look in their eyes and you know what they are.

Look between their eyes to see what they can become.

BTW: Great news about your hubby. Spreading the Truth to those who are closest often is most difficult.

7. And where are the Dem leaders in their support of Kennedy's clarion call..
...a few days ago Teddy called for the party to support Medicare for all and tuition free college. Almost all western industrialized nations have universal healthcare--except America.

And almost every single other western industrialized nation have low cost college--except America!

But the other high profile Democrats are keeping their lips zipped when it comes to supporting these ideas....what a surprise! I mean, the Democrats have fought so bravely for the average American ((wink wink nudge nudge!))

18. Understand completely.
I believe it was Gary Webb who summed up the situation: There are two types of Democrats - those interested in reform and those interested in accomodation. Ted is on the correct side. Would that all Democrats stood with him.

From your post, I believe you do, know what I mean, eh?

19. Do you think he was talking about thoughts, too?
It seems we have a lot to think about, but is there really?

Many of those who work around me quote Flush Limpnut, for goodness sake.

I, too, appreciated Mr. Ustinov's perspectives. Here's something from my second Bartlett's more people should know:

"I am convinced that it is of primordial importance to learn more every year than the year before. After all, what is education but a process by which a person begins to learn how to learn?"

10. I am courteous, but outspoken.
When it comes to politics, I believe that knowing the facts is more important than whether or not someone approves of them (the facts) or approves of me. I am much better informed than most of the people I come into contact with and since I'm comfortable with strangers, warm and friendly, I do enjoy starting conversations about current events and bringing up issues they may not have heard about.

I would be upset if someone thought I was rude or mean. I am not upset if someone thinks I am a liberal, pagan, commie, heathen, "feminazi," punk/hippie/artist/non-conformist, blue-state elitist, or whatever term Rush and Sean are using this week.

The whole Democratic party needs to get over the idea that we shouldn't take a stand because the Rethugs might not like us anymore.

or at least not governmental politics.

At work, I cannot say what I believe about what some of the things my boss does. At work I cannot say what I believe about some of my co-workers and upper management. At least not at work. At work I have to follow the office politic line.

Congressmen are at work when they are in Congress. They follow office politics of Congress.

13. Well, I don't have to worry about getting Wellstoned,
if that's what you mean. But my professional life does require that I keep my mouth shut about politics in the presence of clients, especially those I know are Republicans. It seems pretty basic to me, but then I'm in the consulting business and not a member of Congress.

21. Our freedom is a lie
As you said, "Sen. Wellstone would've had a lot to say..." but, bummer, he's dead. And they never did find out why our military was the source of anthrax sent to Democrats or why the dems (as they are happy to be called) can't get their message out or even get elected against a president who, in a free country, would have been impeached.

Not free, not.

And as to the inordinate politeness, the mealy-mouthedness of our so-called representatives, another thread had this from Jim Garrison, prophetically spoken in 1967:

"In a very real and terrifying sense, our Government is the CIA and the Pentagon, with Congress reduced to a debating society."

He also referred to the media has becoming a "concentration camp of the mind."

23. Off the topic a little bit
But first:

Yeah, I'm free in my own life because I don't have any boss-but my husband-hah! It's a good gig. He agrees with me mostly, and sometimes it is rewarding when he starts to come around to my more extreme views (LIHOP)

I hated working in the corporate world which I did for many years. Politics never really factored into it-but I always felt like a wage slave as I worked for big companies.

So...anyway..about the Boxer and Rice exchange..it reminds me of seeing Kristin Brietweiser on PBS NOW last year and she was simply told that Captiol Hill doesn't work that way.

In other words, you simply don't ask blunt, honest, probing questions such as "Why were the skies left undefended on 9/11?" What were you exactly doing then? Nothing so exact as that..oh no..no..no..

"You said X on this day and Y on this day..which is true..they both can't be true?" Then it's: Oh how dare you question my crediblity!

When they bring up the how dare you-you know they are full of it.

The Jersey Girls famous list of questions that couldn't even be asked!

The truth lost in a fog. Which reminds me of why I hate politics..it's just about kissing ass to get along..well that works in normal times..but when your own government starts letting it's own citizens die to further politcal causes then business as usual and being polite "we don't ask those kind of questions" is not going to wash anymore.

go to ZNET and read Vandana Shiva's article about the sacredness of work. we live in indentured servitude, work is to be intrinsic aspect of your being. work is a sacred expression of who we are. let's not be satisfied with negotiating the terms of our slavery.

tell me where you got the pic, it looks yellow submarinish
