basically pointed out what we have been saying, the religous right has hijacked the teachings of Jesus. Jesus was not pro-rich, pro-war, etc... we need more people out there like him.

I have followed and learned from the work of Jim Wallis for more than ten years now, and his voice is one that needs to be heard. He is not alone - there are millions of Christians in America that share his spiritual perspective.

The Sojourners website, http://www.sojo.net, is worth a look for more good info and inspiration, if you are so inclined. The problem is progressive Christians aren't nearly as sensational or scandalous as our right wing reactionary counterparts, and today's media knows nothing of covering truth.

I'm afraid we here at DU mirror the detestable mainstream media in at least one way. We are undeniably a lot more interested in discussing - and rapidly condemning - evil right wing "fundies" than we are discussing - and supporting - progressive Christians who are doing all they can to follow a faith of truth, justice and unconditional love.
