I just found a really scary religious site.
It is called The Way Of The Master and Kirk Cameron, who used to be on Growing Pains used to be on it. Check it out.

4. I clicked no
and I should be asking myself "am I good enough to go to heaven?" instead of just thinking of myself as a good person.

That's it I'm outta there!

If you aren't Christian, what's the basis for proseltyzing on something that you don't believe?

32. Yes, I saw that offensive drivel.
It all starts from the assumption that there is a God and a heaven. Which rather limits its effectiveness for atheists.

11. Creepy.
in that holier-than-thou christian way.

After the first screen, after I answered "no" to the are you a christian question, was asking whether I was "guilty" or "innocent" about taking the lord's name in vain.

Guilty or innocent. Hmmm. That about sums up the mentality I think.

27. Not sick
I can say I think the show is comical, but are they sick? No. I think Kirk is a decent caring guy. He has chosen a way to live his life that I think is kind of silly, but why is it sick? Is he secretly abusing kids? Selling drugs?

Why is the supposedly tolerant Left always so quick to insult and denigrate other people? It is so common here on DU, and I'm getting a little tired of it. If Kirk wants to spread the word of Christ, that's fine with me.

29. Hey. I am sure that Kirk Cameron's intentions are good.
I am sure that he is a good guy. The last thing I would do is denegrate any religion. I myself am looking for a spiritual connection with God. But the thing is the site does come off as pretty scary. I used to go to church and had become disaffected over similar things. I don't like being proseltyzed to by people who think that they have the monopoly on God. It feels to me that they think, for some inexplicable reason, that they know what God wants. I know that I don't know what God wants. It is the arrogance and hypocrisy of it all that gets me.

14. The NO option - "You shall not make for yourself any idol."
If you say you're not Christian, it tests you with the your compliance with the 10 commnadments. Yes, this is the "No, I'm not a Christian" option. Wild interpretations imho, and this one kills me.

--------------
2. "You shall not make for yourself any idol."

Who is God to you? Is he only a god of love and mercy who would never judge anyone and never cast anyone into Hell? If that's your god, then you're right. Your god couldn't cast anyone into Hell because he doesn't exist. He's a figment of your imagination. You've created a god in your own mind that you're more comfortable with. You may call it your "personal belief," but God calls it idolatry. It's the oldest sin in the Book, and the Bible warns that idolaters will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

------------------

What does the commandment say? What are you suddenly reading about with their interpetations. Jesus.

MY GOD IS THE REAL GOD.

BELIEVE - OR YOU'RE ALL GOING TO BURN IN HELL!!!!!!!!!

The comandment says nothing of hell.........

Why do I need someone else's interpretation of God's word? Why not just have God's word? Who needs their bizarre, forceful interpetations?

aaaaaahhhhhhhhh - deep breath

(Not that anyone these days really knows where RW church ends and cult begins.)

This is where you’ll find all of our resources to help you to share your faith simply, effectively, biblically…the way Jesus did.

The Foundation Course is Step #1 toward leading your loved ones to the Lord. It will teach you how to overcome your fears and show you how to circumnavigate a person’s intellect (the place of argument) and speak directly to the conscience (the place of the knowledge of right and wrong). Click the picture for more details.

Step #2 is to listen to the 16 message audio series (listen freely online to the first eight, or click here to review the whole set), or get the Evidence Bible. If finances are tight, check out the Basic Kit and all the free material on this website. We mention these items specifically, because they are the most basic and important items we offer. If you haven’t seen our Ice Breakers, click here to see some unique ways to open up a conversation with someone about Christ. Our goal is to quickly and effectively equip you to reach those you love with the gospel. God bless you.

Check out all our CATEGORIES below...

Personally, I think a lot of people should be signed up for their email...people who need reminders, I suppose, about the Way of the(ir) Master.

Oh, the fire-and-brimstone bit when you don't call yourself one of the su- um, 'Christians'- is pretty funny. I didn't even realize that these people have to dig into the Book of Revelations to come up with a sufficiently nasty discription of Hell...the fun part is how they have to bend all the Jewish and Greek distinctions to come up with any way of talking about it in any threatening way at all. Btw, I was surprised at how little I've sinned, and how they have to concoct and make up interpretations of the Ten Commandments, and even screw up the Ninth. It seems that the people they're trying to snare can't even be expected to understand what the English verb 'covet' means. And good G-d, it seems even 'lust' means you might as well have committed adultery. As far as I can tell, 'lust' has a lot more to do with the way their 'materials' are priced.

Oh well, a nice scam. It has a very blunt way of doing thought-stopping, the presence of which always gives me brief waves of depression. Bibliodolatry at its finest.

Hmmmm, considering most of it was written after he died, how exactly did he teach biblically?

17. How come they don't ask the yes-answerers
about the 10 commandments? It says that who among us hasn't committed these sins...so does that mean that if they are Christian, they couldn't possibly have done such a horrible thing "even once in your entire life"?

It's great how they interpret things for you so you don't have to think. I like that in a Kirk Cameron website.

18. Holy Crap - I'm being told I"ve angered God, and that I should be scared -

I kept going, answering "innocent" to every thing. After the 10th commandment, and my professed "innocence," and it basically called me a liar, and then started threatening me.

This website has determined that I have angered God.

_________
Does the fact that you have sinned against God scare you? It should.

You have actually angered Him by your sin.

The Bible says His wrath abides on you, that you are an "enemy of God in your mind through wicked works."
-----------------------

I'm scared to click "continue."

22. I heard a story...
...during Growing Pains, his character Mike started dating this girl Julie, who was played by a playboy playmate. So, he did everything he could to get her fired from the show because she posed in Playboy and the good X-tian boy could not associate with a woman who took her clothes off in front of the camera. I lost a lot of respect for him finding that out.

25. And that's probably a big part of the reason that Kirk can't get work!
Hollywood Industry workers don't just tolerate; they accept.

I'm still amazed that the hometowns of these people reject most of them outright (because they're creative); yet, they vilify them for finding a niche and filling those hometown TV and movie screens with the same creativity that was scorned in the first place.

And those hometowns pay big bucks for that entertainment!

Disclaimer: My daughter is a Hollywood makeup artist (trained by the Westmores). She loves her job, and everyone loves her because she accepts and respects everyone.

26. Way of the Master
That has to be one of the funniest (unintentionally funny that is) shows on all of TV. I came across it the other day and couldn't change the channel. There's Kirk Cameron working really sincerely to save everyone else's soul, and to teach you how to spread the word of Christ to the whole world. I was mesmerized by the absolute weirdness of it!

If you select "no", you get a bunch of questions to see if you've irritated God or not. Which don;t mean anything if you don;t believe in God or Heaven. It seems rather poorly thought out.
