"Not One Damn Dime Day" (the 20th of course)
Not One Damn Dime Day

Have you guys seen this? If this has already been discussed, my apologies; but...

(snip) NOT ONE DAMN DIME DAY

Since our leaders don't have the moral courage to speak out against the war in Iraq, Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20th, 2005 is "Not One Damn Dime Day" in America.

On "Not One Damn Dime Day" those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending.

During "Not One Damn Dime Day" please don't spend money, and don't use your credit card. Not one damn dime for gasoline. Not one damn dime for necessities or for impulse purchases. Nor toll/cab/bus or train ride money exchanges. Not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.
(continued at link)

Not One Damn Dime Day

Personally, I think in addition I just might wear my mourning clothes on "coronation day," as well - for all the good that will do! :(

It said there was an error, and I couldn't post, so I tried it again. Sorry.

5. Just wanted to post an opposing view...
I know that reasonable minds can differ on this, but I really don't think this is a good idea. This kind of protest will disproportionately harm small businesses, who are probably more likely to support Democratic causes. Think about it -- Walmart and Exxon will be much more able to "hold their breath" for one day than will "Bob's Flower Shop."

I'm generally trying to avoid patronizing companies that aren't "good corporate citizens," not just on the 20th, but every day. But I personally don't think the "Not One Damn Dime" idea is the right approach. (Nor do I think it will be very effective.)

Just my 2 cents.
