Smirk speech: Anyone have info on polls showing general reaction? |
|
I'm getting extremely negative reactions from almost everyone I know, including wingnuts and hard-right Smirkies as well as borderline Smirk supporters and even the politically apathetic. I'm hearing anti-Smirk talk from people I NEVER in my wildest dreams would have imagined hearing it from, since nothing the man did or said seemed to pierce their wall of denial and narrow-mindedness.
Even the freeps are pissed off and saying negative and nasty things about their pimp that I NEVER EVER thought I'd hear from them, one even going so far as to say "Many of us are waking up and realizing what's happening", and "I will never vote for this man again, I don't like being lied to and I don't like being robbed."
So I'm curious to know if anyone has any information on overnight polls showing the general reaction of the country and if Smirk is really in some deep shit or if this is just another false alarm of hopefulness.

Were those scientific polls, or just online ones?

However, considering that these polls could be being freeped and I haven't seen any indication of people here spamming those polls, I think it is a good sign that people are starting to wake up.

"these are NOT scientific polls". I'm OK with that. It's just the way a LOT of people feel.

6. Two thoughts on the online polls |
|
First of all, even though they are obviously unscientific, you can bet your bottom dollar that if they were favorable to Bush, the talking heads would be pointing at them as evidence of his "popularity", so to have them go so strongly against the Boy King is a victory in and of itself.
Secondly, when you get up into the range of 20,000-30,000 responses as in the CNN poll, that's going to be a pretty damn sample for anyone to deliberately skew. If there is a built in bias, it's toward the more well informed and politically conscious segment of society, i.e. likely voters. So, I believe it represents a fairly good sampling of the public mood, or at least that part of the public that actually matters politically.
