This * Inauguration is Worse than 2000 because... (list your reason(s))
I'll start:

This * Inauguration is Worse than 2000 because...

the last time, I was in Cannes for a music conference. I didn't watch a second of TV coverage all week, but spent the week eating great food and socialising with colleagues from around the world. It was sure fun to say "I didn't vote for that asshole."

It's also worse because as shocked as I was in 2000, I felt that the Dems had mobilized enough to win in 04. Who knew they'd steal it again (well, most of us on DU, that's who)?

It's also worse than 2000 because my *fear* that Americans were becoming a bunch of racist bigots was confirmed as a reality in 04.

It's also worse because my salary then was 400% higher than it is these days. But I got to THAT salary under Clinton. My present salary is the result of the * economy. Thanks, a-hole *!

Any one else care to chime in?

1. It's worse because..
...in 2000, we had no idea how bad Bush was going to be. Now we're faced with four more years of wars, bigotry, anti-intellectualism, (government sanctioned?) terrorist attacks, and fear mongering.

2. The highlight of the last one was the big DU banner.......
....guess that won't be happening again.

4. because the last four years
of * ruining the country introduced me to politics. Prior to that, I was pretty oblivious. With an idiot like him running/ruining the country, I could no longer be oblivious, so it will be a sad, sad day.

5. because we have to look at his ugly face and live with his
fascist, corrupt, EGREGIOUS policies for another four years. That goes double for his band of goons. Until the whole stinking lot of these scum of the EARTH finally LEAVE. Hallelujah.

That'll be a day to celebrate.

6. Because I put more of my heart and soul into it this time...
...than last time. Even though I loved Al Gore and was devastated to see the presidency stolen from him, it was still worse this time. Maybe because in 2000 I just sat on my butt and did lots of wishful thinking before the election, while in '04 I actually got out and did something. More commitment=more disappointment in the end result.

7. It means that the **WORST** pResident in U.S. history will be a 2-termer.
2000 seemed like an outrageous fluke that would be properly corrected in 2004 -- it was all a matter of waiting it out, trying to keep the damage shored up and working like crazy to ensure that it didn't happen again.

Well, here we are, and at the moment we're in far worse shape than we were in January 2001. * got us into Iraq, and he's probably going to get us into Iran shortly. The right wing is coming after Social Security, and if they breach that, it might spell the end.

It's mind-boggling that someone as incompetent, short-sighted, and crooked as The Chimp gets to be a two-termer.

Apologies for the gloom. Not feeling too optimistic right now.

8. This is worse because:
Even I didn't think he could screw it up as badly as he has. I knew he'd screw it up...but this badly?

These last four years have been surreal. I think the next four will be a nightmare. Not just for me and mine, but for the world. I wonder how many more brown people or sick people or GLBT people or old people will die because of bush? How many more will die because of this fuck up of a bush? How many more rights will be taken away from us? How many wars?

On 20 January 2001 I was apprehensive, but this time around I'm terrified.

Fuck it. Sometimes I think I should have stayed in Europe when I had the chance. However, this is my country too and dammit I have a right to live here.

11. NOT!
Only this time, election theft was not so transparent.

And 50-some million of us sat there and did nothing.
